Queer disabled quilter. She/her. Free Palestine. Neurodivergent? Queer? Joint pain? Go and read up on Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Yes, even if you're not all that flexible these days. Even if it's not you, it's probably some of your friends.
"I don't understand why you, a fantasy writer, don't appreciate the value of making bargains with the fae."
Every now and then someone takes a run at me along the lines of "I don't understand why you, a scifi writer, don't appreciate 'AI'," and I'm all, motherfucker, it's *because* I'm a science fiction writer I have the positions I have, how many times do we have to fucking yell "torment nexus," my dude
I have discovered the definition of Chicken! * is brought to the door in a paper bag * with chips * only eaten by @robinjohnson.bsky.social Which is why she begged for his halloumi wrap last night, but when I looked after his plate while he got a drink, there was no polite small cat at my elbow.
Last thing and then I am going to bounce for a while so I don’t have to keep reading the worst fucking COVID takes: July 2021. Days of mounting dread for me as the library I work for first announces we will no longer enforce mask policy, then no longer require them.
This carved stone plaque was found in St Francis' Row in Cashel, and it is believed to be the sign for a tavern that was known as The Cat & Bagpipes, that once stood on the main street. It may date to as early as the 16-17th century, and offers a glimpse of Cashel's social life from centuries ago
This reminds me of one of the most wonderful things that was ever on the Internet: hungoverowls.tumblr.com

I am in the funniest possible situation I am trying to go see The Odyssey but may not get there because of transportation delays
Do any diabetics out there have the faintest idea wtf my pancreas is up to today? I had my breakfast insulin half an hour before eating as usual, which staves off the Foot On The Floor rise. For lunch and dinner I don't need to prebolus, but I split bolus, since I can drop like a stone after eating.
Can anyone recommend an Android app that's either free or a reasonable one-off payment, for logging my cat's medical stuff? I need to know when to reorder her assorted meds, log symptoms, and basic stuff like whether she has a good or bad day. (Chronic kidney disease.) An app for humans might be OK.
I will reiterate: Christians in the West evangelize in public for the same reason men catcall. Neither is trying to persuade you; both are reminding you that the public sphere belongs to them and you exist in it at their sufferance.
I'm looking into some vet physio for my cat... ...but not from this place.

It's finally dawned on me, after months of assuming Ninja only had a few weeks left, that she's actually doing better, and definitely hasn't done living yet. So I posted to a group for cats with kidney disease to ask how long they can live at stage 4. The good news is that it can be years!
this is primarily a disability term, but i also think it applies really well to situations like weight, substance use, body modification, transition, and just about any other bodily autonomy topic people handwring about. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dignity...

Also also also: let’s say someone is fat as a direct result of what they eat & how they use their body & that they are privileged enough that those two things are entirely in their control: WHO FUCKING CARES I don’t troll the internet looking for alcoholics to yell at. It’s weird behaviour.
I just read that another child died in a hot car in Florida, the fifth child to die that way this year in the state. It takes me back to this article, which I read over a decade ago and still think about. It is a horrifying way for a child to die, and a horrific thing for a parent to live with.

There is no such thing as an ableist anti-fascist. If you are ableist, you are fascistic. End of story.
Robin's coffee smelt so nice when we were walking the cat, and it finally dawned on me that yes, I didn't have insulin on me, but a coffee isn't much, I can add it when I have lunch. So I chatted to the barista, did my sums, and triumphantly got a nice latte. I completely forgot to ask for decaf.
1. In an incredible new landmark review, the Health Council of the Netherlands has declared that gender-affirming care for trans youth works, reducing wait times is "morally urgent," and regret is rare. It is the latest of many Euro countries to advance care. Subscribe to support our journalism.
Landmark Official Dutch Review Recommends Trans Youth Care, Call For Expanding Treatment
The review finds that wait times must be shortened, that few people detransition, and that trans youth care has enormous benefits.

I can't wear my continuous glucose monitors on my arms, because I'm a rotisserie sleeper and CGMs will give you false hypo alarms, known as compression lows, if you lie on them. The upper chest turned out to be a good site for a year, but I started getting skin reactions.
I used to be anti-abortion. Never pro-life, I realised early on that the movement was a horror, and I never had a go at someone about their reproductive choices. It took me longer than I wish it had to get from there to becoming very much pro-choice, but I don't think I harmed anyone along the way.
One of the greatest lies of the anti-abortion movement is that opposing abortion is a personal choice in the same way that being pro-abortion is a personal choice. They're not nearly the same thing. If you oppose abortion but think people shouldn't be forced to give birth, you're pro choice. Sorry!
I am once again asking people to stop shitting on self publishing. Self publishing is one of the best ways for marginalized people to get their stories told, and we work hard as fuck. Stop equating selfpub with low quality, low effort.
I just... what are you doing Why are you a trip hazard in two separate doorways
We went to a nearby flower garden and Ninja fell asleep in the catnip. Look at her silly splooty paw. I love this little weirdo
Here’s a PSA for people like me who were raised not to waste food (perhaps rather aggressively) we are now dealing with an unreliable food safety system in the US. If something tastes weird or funny or off IN ANY WAY just throw it away.
This is Winnie. He got so excited that he briefly forgot how to be a dog. You can laugh, but he'd like to point out you look this ridiculous all the time. 13/10 (TT: brisbreaks)
the cognitive dissonance required to threaten to sue *Amnesty International* out of existence and still think of yourself as a good person is incredible
while we talk about the RFK's Diarrhea 2026 stuff, don't overlook the fact that there's a dog food recall going on too. unfortunately we don't have a good spokesvehicle for the FDA anymore, so Good Housekeeping will have to do.
