Our neighbours in Waltham Forest just keep pushing further and further to make cycling better—here, a crowded shared footway that was over capacity is being replaced by a separated cycleway. More convenient for cycling, and much safer & less stressful for pedestrians going to Whipps Cross Hospital!
Blimey look what the neighbors are building! I haven't been to Whipps Cross for a while so had no idea. youtu.be/PZIATQQyFck?...

“As Aydin jumps a scooter over ramps set up in the middle of the road, children around him are drawing with chalk, blowing bubbles and kicking a football in a spot where cars are usually driving through.” Good job Leeds. More children should have the chance to play in their neighbourhood like this.
Leeds: The city closing down streets so children can play
In Leeds, streets are being temporarily closed to traffic so kids have more space to safely play - an initiative proving beneficial to both children and adults.

It’s weird how London has lots of tall buildings and yet their fire trucks are moderately sized. It’s as if truck size in America is just an ideological imperative.
Big new story from @annaisaac.bsky.social. Cottrell transferred $2m to his mother before she made Reform & Tice donations. The even bigger question now is where did Cottrell’s money come from? And this is where I think a very big problem lies.. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
Revealed: George Cottrell transferred $2m to his mother days before her donations to Reform UK
Exclusive: Sources say Fiona Cottrell told bankers the transfers, received 24-72 hours before her donations to Reform, came from her son

Remember kids: wear bright clothing and be conspicuous when you walk to school.
Tis the day for crap driving. Russell Road, at about 1pm. Closed to cyclists as well as drivers, hopefully it's open by now though.
This disingenuous commentary doesn’t help anyone. Frauds start unravelling pretty quickly. That you apparently cannot afford to put your oven or treat yourself is quickly undermined by the question “so why are you spending £50 per week on petrol?” Then, it turns out, she has an agent and /1
Elaine in this article "can't remember the last time she used her oven" but also spends £200 a month on petrol (so driving probably ~50 miles a day?) (she's also a professional old person; she was on Good Morning Britain last year, and then also at the Nov budget, and the year before lmao)

Cities that PROCLAIM A CLIMATE EMERGENCY but fail to curb motor traffic are being disingenuous at best. If they purport to care about health and sustainability whilst locking in expensive and exclusionary forms of transport that are bad for health and suck up all capital spending They're bastards
“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.” Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life. Common sense. Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.

NEW: Who funds Nigel Farage? And why has it taken till now for any journalistic scrutiny? @carolecadwalla.bsky.social who has tracked him for a decade exposes how the UK press & regulators looked the other way 🧵👇
The narrative around autonomous vehicles often frames them as inevitable. But choosing them is a political choice, not a technological certainty. When we treat self-driving cars as the default future, we choose to double down on private, car-centric infrastructure and unsustainable futures.

Mile for mile, the Lower Thames Crossing is likely to be more expensive than HS2. Yet public money is being thrown at this damaging road scheme without a completed business case in place!
Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

Why are car-centric transport systems so difficult to undo? Because automobiles represent the dominance of private property over public space. In this @urbancyclinginstitute.org essay, I look to history to uncover how we got here. #StealingCars
