my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop

"Why don't people feel good about the economy when consumer purchasing power is stronger than ever?" is the wrong question. Any economic analysis is useless unless you ask whether people feel they can secure their future; housing, healthcare, retirement without poverty.

The times that a trans student has come out to me as a part of their self-discovery are sacred to me at a time when little else is. This is an abominable and unenforceable fascist tactic.

Censoring "gender ideology" does nothing to advance the basic promise that every child deserves the same opportunity to thrive, and that includes transgender students.

I've studied so many concentration camps through history that held vulnerable people in just this kind of crowded squalor. You demonize people, you demand more arrests, this is what you get. It already has its own budget and its own momentum, and is on track to go much further, unless we stop it.
