I'm in awe of the video editor in Canva. It's powerful enough to do some professional-looking edits with layers, subtitles, and animations (unlike iMovie), while being really easy to use (unlike DaVinci Resolve).

Here's a take: It just occurred to me that embracing satanistic imagery (inverted crosses, blasphemy in general) for shock, to signal opposition to Christian values, is as stupid and misguided as e.g. embracing fascist/nazi imagery and aesthetics to signal opposition to communism and/or capitalism.

There's a biological argument for unconditional basic income to be made based on how our decisions depend on factors beyond our control. Advice for AuDHD early career researchers: You’ve already been doing PhD-level research for more than a decade now in your spare time, about nerdy stuff that most people don’t get or care about. When you have to research *for real*, don’t think that depth or level of commitment isn’t enough. It is!

I do find it weird in more polite subfields that someone can give a talk that most people in the field consider bullshit, and an outside observer wouldn’t know. But the opposite arrangement where good work and bad get ravaged equally is such a clear failure

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time.
