"THE FUCKING PEDOPHILE-IN-CHIEF IS NOT GOING TO PROTECT YOU" This is the most patriotic, neighborly, First Amendment American ass shit. I'm so proud.
christopher nolan is real? I thought he was just something straight men made up to sound interesting
I remain so incredibly fascinated by Alexander Skarsgård's career choices as of late, which apparently also include [checks notes] playing a WICKER HUSBAND

One of the YA novels I teach in my 8th grade class is The Inexplicable Logic of My Life, and it is such a beautiful book. The story, the prose, the characters, and every page infused with his soul. I’m so sad about this loss. Benjamin Alire Sáenz Dies at 71 bookriot.com/benjamin-ali...

The answer to "why does everything suck now" almost ALWAYS goes back to "venture capital." Which goes back to "a lot of people have too much money and don't know what to do with it." Which goes back to: "We need to tax rich people more." It's like it's the solution to 99% of our problems!!
And this.

I did a bit of very minor digging and Taylor Farms also sells under the brands Earthbound Farm and Eat Smart. In addition to Taco Bell they also supply to Chipotle, McDonald's, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster. Are these compromised? Who fucking knows 🤷🏻♀️ but better safe than sorry.
Props to consumer reports for their journalism here. Since Taylor foods and the FDA are not disclosing where all the lettuce went they’re doing a great job trying to figure out the details. For now they’re recommending everyone trash all their iceberg. www.consumerreports.org/health/food-...
I did some digging in this and thread below on places you might encounter Taylor Farms in addition to lettuce -- they sell onions and cilantro to restaurants so don't order dishes with those raw. The other big one is unlabelled grocery store deli fruit and veggie snacks, or cold sandwiches.
Here's the most comprehensive list of their products they sell to the food service industry I could find. taylorfarmsfoodservice.com/products/
It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.
Taylor Farms, which supplies major fast food and grocery chains, was identified as the possible source of the cyclosporiasis outbreak Thursday.

I want people to understand the full impact of the devastation that First Nations in Canada are facing. It's NOT just that people and wildlife are losing their homes...it's the history that is being lost for generations to come.

37-year-old lifelong New Yorker here. You know, growing up, I don’t remember being trapped inside by toxic wildfire smoke. Certainly not with this regularity. I have a toddler. I am beyond outraged over the state of the planet he will inherit—a crisis fueled by greedy businessmen and their allies
Someone called the cyclospora outbreak MAHA Blast and I'm cackling like I'm 13 again.
I am once again begging Hollywood to stop using the Greek alphabet for an Ancient World movie, if they can't afford to even throw a couple of quid at anyone with an inkling of the language. Unless they really think audiences are dying to see THS THDPSSSSPS
Many areas including NY, WI and MI have extremely poor air quality due to wildfire smoke. While public health agencies advise people to stay indoors and avoid strenuous activity, farm workers are out working in these conditions. 1/
Hard work in these conditions draws harmful fine particles deep into their lungs, and most workers have no choice but to go to work. For seasonal or migrant workers, the housing is often not climate controlled leading to poor quality interior air, too. 2/

An author I admired recently switched his newsletter to substack, and while he acknowledged that substack had its problems, “finding any sort of platform that isn’t at least 60% evil is a basic impossibility” (direct quote). I wanna believe he did his research but also. Come on, man
Substack is 100% doing another round of big cash payouts for reputation laundering. A fair number of people accepting that money aren't hurting for it so I'm not clear on why they're doing it. BTW, if you're still on Substack, why, but also, here's a resource to get off: leavesubstack.com
