Always makes game content, but never plays games. Just a guy from Norway who does a bit of everything from visual to technical, mainly focused on Unity development atm. I want things to be human made. 🐀 is love.

How I like to word it, as someone generally pro tech but anti "AI". Specific and purpose trained machine learning (with ethical training data) for things humans can't easily do (or takes an unreasonable amount of time) like complex data processing, can be good, and that existed before the hype boom.

I'm fine with machine learning with the correct conditions, but anything labeled AI I will assume the worst. That's the industry's own doing and they can lie in that bed. To me "AI" is a mindset, an attitude, a shitty movement, something we should 100% be against. Say you're not anti ML instead imo.

Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

part of why I don't like AI is bc it's so often the antithesis of caring for the little things, the appreciation of the mundane, of seeing beauty where others haven't yet been able to, and seeking genuine fundamental understanding all in the name of "get product faster" I find it so disheartening

Anyway I'm just going to say it outright: if you're an indie dev using AI for coding, above and beyond any other objections, what you're telling me is that you have no solidarity with anyone else in games. Not artists, not writers, not other coders. You beleive in personal convenience at all costs.

Made a nice little catapult system for my current game project, got some nice editor previews so you can see how and where a physics object will be flung before running the game. Also works and previews with gravity volumes which took some extra work, but is neat I think! #gamedev #indiedev

Regular reminder that no wealth tax is going to stop this racist oligarch from destroying America. We must put Musk in prison for the crimes he has committed that are public knowledge—or others that have so far been hidden. The DOGE violations of federal law will be sufficient.

I've reported on Musk for around 8 years. I've co-authored a book on him. I don't think folks understand the rate of his wealth accumulation. Shortly after he helped elect Donald Trump in Nov 2024, his net worth was around $350 billion. That net worth has nearly tripled in less than two years.

it's still insane to me that valve never invest in game development outside their little studio. it's straightforwardly good business to start doing dev grants, or at least lower their cut until a dev makes a million bucks or whatever. the industry is falling apart and they wouldn't feel it at all

imo vr was fucked forever once oculus started funding games on condition of exclusivity and nobody else funded them at all valve could have quadrupled any such investment without the exclusivity and not felt it at all. maybe wouldn't have saved vr, but sure woulda helped

hey man we used AI in the production process of this game but don't worry none of it made it in the game, it was a huge waste of time and money, and we could've just looked at stock photos at the end of the day. You have to accept the future.

still not quite over the fact that i watched 15 year olds get sued for millions of dollars for downloading twelve songs and now we all have to accept AI slop because every tech company in the known universe decided that IP laws don't exist now that they're inconvenient for them

This video kinda sucks like it's bad lighting and stuff but I just can't handle how cute this guy is. What do you mean I can cuddle in a blanket with the living beanie baby who also loves the interaction as much as me 😭😭😭 look at his boggles 🥹 I love rats man come ON
