I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

I have very mixed feelings on WotC announcing a new Dark Sun. It was - by far - my favorite 2E setting when it launched. And then TSR (and WotC) have spent 30 years screwing it up. First the Prism Pentad, and then by mostly ignoring it. 1/?

I don't care if they WERE there to arrest him for arson, murder, plane hijacking, rape, & 200 counts of aggravated villainy. if you're talking about a warrant, you're pretending you care about the due process it's a part of. and being murdered is a pretty big violation of your right to due process.

What's that, Nextdoor? Police activity .6 miles from the house! That's good to know! I wonder if it's at that apartm ... Las Vegas, Nevada? If that's .6 miles from the house, then there are several other alerts I'd have expected. Because Oregon and half of Washington must have been folded away.

A screencap from a Nextdoor alert that there is police activity .6mi from my home. And then the detail text says it's a report of police activity in Las Vegas, Nevada.

My home is in Washington State.

This is interesting to me, because one of the major reasons (Sony-backed) Blu-Ray beat (Toshiba-backed) HD-DVD is because of the PS3. It put a relatively inexpensive Blu-Ray player in a LOT of homes, which meant the market for Blu-Ray discs was suddenly a lot larger. 1/?

"Boomers need to hand over the reins of power to a younger generation!" Speaking as a member of GenX: Now that Millennials are old enough to take power, I agree. Because we don't want those reins, and - realistically - you don't want us to have them, either.

My favorite thing about taking the train to work is those really busy days when the train is just packed, and we pull into the Mercer Island station, because you get to see all the rich people realize that they have to share the train with The Poors. And, even worse, those Poors have all the seats.

WELCOME TO WASHINGTON, SOCCER FANS. Get acquainted with our state via this highly accurate and mostly-to-scale map.

A hot mess of colorful scribbles all over a map of Washington, featuring doodles of iconic Washington features like mountains, orcas, ferries, cherries, onions, and other produce. The map emphasizes the busyness of the Seattle area, I-5, I-90, US 2, and the U.S./Canada border during the World Cup games.

I am starting to wonder if shutting down a chunk of midtown and forcing Knicks fans to spend an hour-plus waiting outside so a widely loathed bigot could sit in a weird glass box and stare grimly into middle distance and then fall asleep might have had an effect on the energy in the building

Now that the light rail is only a quarter mile from the office, I've been testing taking the train to work. $3 each way (vs. about $6 in gas when I drive) Mount TBR has already been reduced in size noticeably. But it means being our half an hour earlier and getting home later, too.
