Listening to baseball on the radio on a blanket in my backyard with the cats. Twins win in a dramatic bottom of the 9th triple by Lewis. Had leftover zucchini, tomato, and basil (all from my garden) galette for dinner. Lovely way to spend a free evening.
Some sausage making info: the engine where all the people are is built to withstand a bomb, so they are relatively safe. You dont want to know how many vehicles they hit each year cos ppl play chicken and how many derailments there are. The real risk is the cargo
Kid1, who is both an conductor and engineer for CN and has driven trains through SK wildfires himself, just sent me this video from Ontario. When I tell you they arent paid enough!!! vt.tiktok.com/ZSXkuEadE/
That free Shakespeare is me! Yes, bring sunscreen. Or come early to get the downstage center seats behind the food truck, which provides the only shade.
A lot to do during the heatwave...
It’s a lot easier to produce a play when I’m not also in it.
Today was our first day of tech rehearsal for Shakespeare at the Pub, our free outdoor summer Shakespeare show. The crew started at 7 AM to try to beat the heat in Sociable’s parking lot. Actors worked 8 AM - 12 PM. Frogg Toggs and AC breaks were clutch. And it was a productive day!
I have load-in for Hamlet tomorrow morning and am up far too late watching this Aurora game.
and I just think Leo went “yeah no fuck this, they had their chances, there’s no compromising with these people,” and I think the reason this is all so satisfying even to non-Catholics is that we all want to see people like this actually removed from their access to power but it happens so rarely
We're so starving for consequences we're reading Vatican press releases
Pope : with mercy and love and deep regret, i must call this a schismatic act Half of bluesky with their shirts off and earrings out ready to brawl outside applebees : GET THEIR ASSES WOOOOO
I have real concerns about how moderate Craig will vote in a seat held by progressives for almost two decades, but we should fear putting someone at the top of the ticket with demonstrated animosity towards other statewide candidates. Will she deliver votes to reelect our AG? Do her supporters care?
jacob frey has now endorsed angie craig for minnesota's open US senate seat never forget this old craig tweet from 2022 where she boosted the scott county GOP's racist cartoon featuring keith ellison and ilhan omar doing a tug of war with her and frey
Oh, this is exciting! A friend lived off the BQE and told me about how he never opened his windows because of the tire dust/exhaust soot. I moved two avenues further off the BQE and thought I’d be better off. I, too, did not open my windows without expecting to clean.
A movement in favor of tearing down the BQE altogether is gaining momentum.
“How much is a magical world worth?” A beautiful thread about Cabo Verde, the Peace Corps, and the World Cup:
At caucus, they asked us, the party faithful, if we should add "abolish ICE" language to the Colorado Democratic Party platform. It passed with 98% approval. 98 fucking percent. That's why we're mad. Because y'all don't match our energy.
Apparently the timeline is cursed tonight but I was at a friend’s backyard barbecue enjoying a beautiful Minnesota summer evening. I’m now trying to catch up on the bad vibes I’ve missed.

I volunteered to spend today (peak MN summer Saturday) inside at the Hennepin County convention, but I could bike there. Did a victory lap around Bde Maka Ska on the way home. Delighted that @cedrickfrazier.bsky.social is endorsed for County Attorney.
Different delegate, arguing that showing disapproval today is the least the convention can do: A no endorsement is a slap on the wrist. She's gonna win anyway. But I don't like breathing tear gas.
Klobuchar only getting 67% of the vote while being essentially unopposed for months should be a massive wake up call to her and the DFL. Stop voting for Trump cabinet members and judges. Loudly support the LGBTQIA+ community. Start actually campaigning. This is an election, not a coronation.
My uncle died recently I’ve been trying to decide on a memorial donation that honored his son, my cousin who is a teacher. This registry was perfect. I picked five books from this list and am so excited to share the titles with him.
A Minneapolis neighborhood school created a @moonpalacebooks.bsky.social registry of books to send home with kids for the summer, and Moon Palace is selling them at a 20 percent discount! Order the books for local students at this link by May 29 moonpalacebooks.com/gift-registr...
"too little, too late" perfectly describes angie craig only expressing regret - and not even APOLOGIZING - for voting for the laken riley act after operation metro surge ended. minnesota voters are clear-eyed after this winter, and we deserve better leadership than craig has shown
Had a lovely “MSP is the biggest small town” moment where a grade school BFF went past on her way home from her son’s baseball game as I was out and talking to a neighbor, and she pulled over and we got to have a nice catch-up against my retaining wall.
Do you ever see your cat sleeping and think they’re so cute, but then they fall deeper asleep and their head lolls into the next level of relaxation and a new level of cuteness is unlocked?

Easiest $75 I’ve ever spent. The siege reinforced my passion for supporting local institutions where local folks, not corporations, control their fate. Aaron has made this place better for a long time — not an easy task when your job is the Twins! — so it felt great to hit “buy” this morning.
My big news: I've left The Athletic because they wanted me to stop covering the Twins. I refused to give up my dream, so I'm betting on myself and returning to my independent roots. I need your support to make it work. Join me and let's do this together: www.aarongleeman.com/welcome-to-t...
Could there be a world where I don’t avoid Cedar Ave? I will definitely walk over for this open house tomorrow.
Hennepin County + Minneapolis are planning major improvements to Cedar Ave (Lake St to 42nd St) to boost safety & mobility for all users. The full reconstruction will upgrade pavement, drainage, signals, bus stops, sidewalks & pedestrian ramps. Construction starts Spring 2028.
