MO SOS Hoskins rejected a referendum on a 2025 map aimed at ousting @cleaver.house.gov. It's a decision that's not unexpected and will be challenged in court. And if Hoskins is wrong... some election officials have broached the possibility of redo congressional primaries in the fall:

Hoskins rejects Missouri congressional redistricting map referendum, setting up court fight

The GOP Secretary of State’s decision was expected. Proponents of placing the GOP-leaning map up for a statewide vote will go to court to put a vote on the plan on the November ballot.

🚨BREAKING: Nearly a year after voting advocates launched a campaign to prevent a GOP gerrymander from taking effect in Missouri, Secretary of State Denny Hoskins officially blocked the citizen-initiated referendum on the new map from appearing on the ballot. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Missouri blocks anti-gerrymander referendum from November ballot in attempt to silence voters

Voter advocates are expected to immediately challenge the move and ask the courts to ensure that Missouri voters have the final say on the map.

Yes, #3 has been firmly rejected by the courts—and Missouri voters even overturned a congressional map at the ballot box in the 1920s! But it would bog things down in further legal challenges, which Republicans would prefer if they can't nuke the referendum outright.

Primary Election Day is Tuesday in Missouri. This is when they put the screwiest stuff on the ballot VOTE NO ON 4 AND 5 Protect Missouri Votes and keep sales tax lower. Both of these hand power to Jeff City is doesn't need.

We see this in politics as often as we do in economics. As people grasp for a populist message that relieves the masses of any responsibility for the problems of the current system, they remove individual agency and "systemness" from the analysis. Thus, they also remove our capacity to enact change.

there is a strain of lefty discourse where you can’t come to any unflattering conclusions about the populace—those must be explained away by how they are being acted upon by capital—but I think you’ll understand things better if you understand capital can also exploit weaknesses it didn’t create

it’s never a great sign for your society when all the competent people who believe in doing a good job for the sake of it conclude that they’re actively being punished for these qualities, while malignantly stupid criminals are making bank

once again, all dylan mulvaney did was exist in public as a trans person. that's all most of us do. that's enough to make a lot of people hate us. giving any credence to that hate, that we're doing something wrong just by existing, is so fucked and yet so many supposed allies cannot see that

Dylan Mulvaney's response to Trump's recent attacks on her at the WHCD is worth watching. www.readtpa.com/p/the-punchl...

Stephen Miller said just the other day that all asylum claims are "fake." A couple deported from the U.S. to Guatemala were gagged, bound, and shot dead. Their 14-month old found crying next to their mother's body. People like Miller don't care though because this is the point: ethnic cleansing.

So much for "merit-based." The Trump administration has now admitted it canceled clean energy grants based on how states voted in 2024. Weaponizing taxpayer dollars to punish political opponents is a blatant abuse of power and an attack on our democracy.
