Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.

Used google to search for a Chinese name + 號 of a woman I saw as author of two poems published in 1797. Forgot to add "-ai". So above all the irrelevant links, was presented with a full classical bio with name, birthplace, other 號, period of activity etc. 100% hallucinated.

I do think the water thing with AI gets overplayed compared to the technology's other environmental and social harms, but AI boosters like to pretend it's entirely invented. The potable water industry in the UK - no tree huggers here - makes it clear than no, this is a very real issue.

One of the most precipitous events in the decline of HK's autonomy and the rights of Hongkongers was the disappearance of five staff members from Causeway Bay Books in 2015. What was then done covertly and abroad is now done in HK itself, in broad daylight.

It’s so fucking awkward to have to inject “places I cannot go because I’m illegal there” into normal ass conversations about “what did you get up to on your holiday?” “Omg I went to Turkey! You should go!” “Oh you should go to Egypt and see the pyramids!” Yeah, I’d love to. I’m illegal there.

Looks like Turkey is saying they don't want EU membership. Also looks like they're not going to be a safe place for LGBT visitors either. A worthy consideration when booking your hols this year or next! www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...

There's a part in the book "Careless People" where the author beats Zuck at Settlers of Catan, and he is absolutely wrecked by it. Someone pulls her aside to explain everyone else has been letting him win for years. I think about this a lot re: why tech bros think everyone will love AI chatbots.

People who spiral out overusing LLM chatbots are really just experiencing the kind of brain-damaging stream of unconditional validation that’s always been the norm for the hyper-wealthy, which explains a lot.

As the director of a historical video game preservation institution, and someone who has dedicated his entire adult life to this cause, this is accurate. We have attempted to work with the industry's trade organization to find a legal path forward, but they refuse to offer a meaningful alternative.

piracy is the only extant form of media preservation that exists in games right now, you might find it morally reprehensible but there is literally no other institution that will keep games alive in 25, 50 years' time

This is absolutely nuts: hackers are hijacking high-profile Instagram accounts by simply asking Meta's AI chatbot to change the email on the account. Meta's AI does it, hacker gets password reset code, they're in. A staggering security issue www.404media.co/hackers-simp...
