The SpaceX IPO filing is a joke, but the joke is on anyone with a retirement account linked to the stock market. It’s specially designed to offload the company’s liabilities onto the public. After pilfering the public by taking NASA IP, repackaging it as their own, and undermining real space faring.
Nationalize SpaceX
Innocent me: think that I'll do a quick #duolingo lesson while I wait. Aggro Owl: If you don't do a lesson now, I will find you, I'll see you driven before me, and I'll hear the lamentations of your women.
It’s no big surprise that Trump’s DOJ is deleting all of the January 6th press releases from its website. Here’s the thing: I downloaded all of them in Feb. 2025 (that’s right, more than a year ago) suspecting that they’d do just that. And we’re working to post them all online, as are others.
Trump DOJ mass-deletes info on Jan. 6 riot cases, including violent assaults on cops
The Trump Department of Justice purged government news releases with information about prosecutions of rioters who attacked the U.S. Capitol and assaulted law enforcement on Jan. 6, 2021.

That A.I. is trained on copyrighted material is not a subject of serious debate…. Unless you think Anthropic paid a 1.5 billion settlement to authors & publishers out of sheer generosity
(1/8) Who is Deal Man? Deal Man is an Iron Age carved chalk figurine on display at Dover Museum. He was discovered in 1984 during excavations by the #Dover Archaeological Group ahead of construction work on a site adjacent to St Richards Road in, #Deal.
Expired: Checking in on Southwest at T-24 to get a less crappy boarding position. Wired: Checking seat availability at T-48 to get the "free extra legroom seats if available for everyone on the reservation" benefit on the Priority card. Availability for this AUS-ORD trip was good too.
A good cautionary tale for when someone claims that trusting data analysis done with an LLM is good because it’s “objective.” In this example, Copilot apparently decided to ignore the data it was given and just run with all the subconscious biases its (human-made) training data inevitably gave it.
"Based on the dataset you shared, US and UK responses differ mainly in tone, intensity, and wording style, even though they express similar emotional states" New post on what happened when I got Copilot to do some data analysis: kucharski.substack.com/p/real-signa...
The people living next to this data center also just got disenfranchised through redistricting.
This is what we mean when we say that "AI safety" is a eugenicist project. They fear an ultra-powerful AGI that may kill us all. Meanwhile, this Colossus 1 data center is already killing Black people in Memphis.

Hanging at @devopsdaysaustin.bsky.social today. Good conversations with folks smarter than I :)
AI produces MORE editorial labor, not less. “[To weed out slop] the journal doubled its deputy editors from 6 to 11 & nearly doubled its sr editors from roughly 30 to 60. All of this is volunteer labor, unpaid academics donating time to maintain scientific quality.“ www.forbes.com/sites/johndr...
AI Slop Is Flooding Academic Journals. A Top Journal Measured It
A top management journal measured AI’s impact on submissions and reviews. Submissions rose 42%, writing quality declined and AI reviews proved uninformative to editors.

I find it incredibly telling when men like Dawkins are convinced that the LLMs are ‘intelligent’ because it ‘agrees’ with them or tells them how insightful or clever they are
Sean Duffy officiating a wedding: "we are gathered here today for one of the most beautiful, solemn, and important of occasions: to blame the Democrats for something Republicans did"
Sean Duffy on Spirit Airlines: "I think it's important to talk about why we are here today. Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg ... "
Having all the cards is, famously, not the goal in Uno.
So, if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces...
I am begging “environmentalists” to understand that building dense infill housing is one of the most environmentally friendly policies possible
Often underused green spaces are being targeted as a creative solution for sclerotic housebuilding rates in the capital. But environmentalists are calling the plan a duff: ft.trib.al/h0q9zZ3
Bouncing around socials to make sure my bio reflects that I'm no longer with Fleet (put in notice a few weeks ago, last day was today). On the market for either IC or tech lead duties. I'm 1-3 interviews in at a few places, which is promising.
I want to remind everyone that the president posted a picture of himself as Jesus and, when enough people complained, deleted it, saying he thought it was a picture of him as a doctor. By his own account, the best case scenario is that he's so far gone he doesn't know what a doctor is anymore
JD getting excommunicated right before his new book drops is probably too much to ask for, but that doesn't mean I can't wish for it.
JD Vance advises the Vatican to stay out of US politics
Hi JD Vance. I think Nigel Farage and Reform could definitely do with your help in the May elections here
So JD Vance was given two high-profile tasks for the Trump administration -- boost Orban's chances at re-election in Hungary and help strike a settlement in Iran -- and he appears to have failed horribly at both. I'm sure the NYT will be all over that.
all these universities kept axing medieval history departments as if they thought tyrants beefing with the Pope was going to stop being relevant
"No solar farms on prime farmland"? My dude, you are growing fuel corn. A single field of solar replaces several fields of fuel corn which means THERE WILL BE MORE PRIME FARMLAND to use for FOOD.
So - astonishingly - Iran has been paying attention to history, notably the Millennium Challenge exercise, which was originally an Iran war game, and in which US Marine Col. Paul van Riper, playing the baddies, handed an invading US force its hat with both its ears in it BY DOING THIS.
Senate Commerce hearing on Section 230. And, uh, this is big. Not giving him any credit, but Ted Cruz was really the first Senator to be vocally anti-230 and calling for repeal a decade ago. And here he is saying "whoa, repeal might be bad." That's big. www.commerce.senate.gov/2026/3/liabi...
Retired: the terawatt hour (TWh) Wired: Strait Of Hormuz (SOh) Usage: “Last year the world added an entire Strait of Hormuz worth of new solar power generation.” #energysky
JUST ONE YEAR'S OF SOLAR!? In 2025, 82MT of LNG went thru the Strait of Hormuz. That's 1200TWh of gas = about 600TWh of electricity generation if it was used in gas power plants. Meanwhile in 2025, global solar electricity generation rose by about 600TWh ☀️
