Study after study shows AI is pretty crap at what it claims to do, and I keep wondering who is still falling for this stuff. And I think a big part is that while AI is bad at doing work, it is great at doing things that look like work.

there is no computer task that needs to be mediated by your own personal scheming vizier, and by now we have ample evidence that these systems are designed to reinforce and encourage their own use. there's no stable equilibrium to be found there.
sorry but "not using LLM chatbots at all" *is* the pragmatic middle ground. you are not making a practical decision by engaging with an addictive system largely designed in ways meant to make you worse off by people who do not have your best interests in mind

If you’re pro-AI and not part of the corporate elite, you need to ask yourself a question: What makes you think you’re safe? Tech CEOs want to destroy *all* our jobs, not just the people currently suffering. You’re not a special little exception, you’re food like everyone else.

it's absolutely AI a very, very big part of the reason that consoles decrease in price over their lifespan is that (usually) both the components 𝘢𝘯𝘥 the process to manufacture them is never more expensive than at the start of a lifecycle right now? that is simply not the case

Either by component shortages caused by AI or executives using AI caused component shortages as justification for hiking prices... AI did this.

This DLSS 5 AI dogshit is actually depressing man. Even worse is that a whole generation is growing up who won't even know this looks 'bad' or 'wrong' because to them it'll be normal. We need to push back harder against it.

I guess where I am with AI now is: If you're using it for anything you'd better be embarrassed and apologetic about it. You also need to have a detailed explanation for why you're doing it. The shame is critical though. If you don't have that it's going to be hard to have a conversation with me.

The real cost of the 'shift to AI' by coding houses won't be properly felt until a few years after it starts. At first it seems like stuff is getting done really quickly, but what managers and execs aren't seeing is the *enormous* amount of technical debt that's being generated.
