(1/4) Last, but not least: how do mitochondria look like with #MegaExM? First, thank you Jorge for providing your expertise in this topic and how to deal with all these data! He already shared what a 10X air lens can capture in his latest post. But what about 40X 1.2 NA water lens?

(1/5) Individual mitochondrial cristae with a 10X air lens 🤯 I am very happy to be a co-author on Mega-ExM! Driven by @igvegvas.bsky.social at @sauer-lab.bsky.social . It is really exciting to see how far Ignacio has pushed the technique since we learned it together back in 2019.

(2/3) As an example, here's a first look at cilia and basal bodies in a multiciliated cell expanded 250x! A 1.25×1.25x0.59 mm volume (≈ 5×5x2.4 µm, PreExM), acquired with a 10X air lens (undersampled), but yet so much detail! Stainings: NHS (magenta) / CEP83 (cyan) / Acet. tub. (orange).

(1/3) For all centrosome/cilia enthusiasts 🗣️🗣️ From Pereira’s lab, we’re so happy to share our latest collab with @sauer-lab.bsky.social: Mega-ExM)! 🥳 Here, we pushed expansion microscopy to crazy scales (1500x 🤯) and used cilia and centrioles as some of our favorite test structures 🤭

(1/4) We are very excited to share our latest preprint from @sauer-lab.bsky.social: Mega Expansion Microscopy (Mega-ExM)! We combine iterative hydrogel expansion with whole-proteome NHS labeling and post-expansion immunostaining, reaching tunable expansion factors up to ~1500× in whole cells 🤯

🚨 New #Blueprint🚨 Ever wondered how the HPC supports learning across different contexts? My newest, a combo of experimental and comp neuro, w @SaraASolla & @DisterhoftLab, uncovers a 'universal' memory code in the HPC—consistent across animals and environments! 🧵👇 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

A universal hippocampal memory code across animals and environments

How learning is affected by context is a fundamental question of neuroscience, as the ability to generalize learning to different contexts is necessary for navigating the world. An example of swift co...
