Utopia governed by utilitarian robot where people hack their pain and pleasure centers in an arms race to make themselves more and more into utility monsters so resources are distributed to them and not their enemies

I disagree with the argument that consequentialism is good. Consequentialism is inconsistent due to a variant of the consequentialist judgment paradox thought experiment put forward by Arthur Ionescu. In this thought experiment, there are 3 elements

There is a stupid version of leftism that believes no company can ever serve a useful purpose; that they're pure greed and graft 100% of the time, price discovery is fake, etc. Even if you abolished capitalism, someone would need to invent worker-owned insurance and other financial functions.

Contra "everything is a scam" discourse on the left: insurance companies serve an important function and need to be able to price risk appropriately. You can't fix a broken pricing function with a government backstop.

No matter how much you throw trans people under the bus, you are still going to get attacked. All you've done is betray a vulnerable minority, anger your base, and made the issue front and center.

As a democratic socialist, for me at least, this sort of good-government liberalism is not just a compatible ideology, but a necessary subset of the overall democratic socialist agenda. If you want the government to do lots of good for people, it needs to do a lot, but it also needs to do it well.

Like, sorry, you can’t say he’s “not really a democratic socialist” because he understands that governing involves tradeoffs or because he’s gutting protectionist regulations that have nothing to do with democratic socialism

Hayek wrote Road to Serfdom talking about socialism as if it was all Marxism-Leninism. Conservatives spent 75 years dining out on this sleight of hand. What if we do the same with conservatism, equating everything in its direction as leading to MAGA?
