The funniest - and least discussed - aspect of this is that Farage, having reportedly told RefUK he'd only lead them if compensated for the £1m a year income he had outside politics, pocketed their five million, then kept earning from outside interests at the same rate anyway. He scammed even them.

Important, because Farage's defence for not declaring Harborne's £5m 'gift' has always been very specific: he did not decide to stand until 3rd of June. Turns out this deal was struck mid-May (confirmed by RefUK) and facilitated by Farage's other big donor, convicted felon 'Posh' George Cotrell. 🧐

Interesting statement from Avon & Somerset police about how not only did Zack Polanski not commit an offence in posting a pic of a man in a T-shirt showing a guillotine and a reference to Nigel Farage, but that the "satirical" T-shirt was itself also not an offence.

But Avon and Somerset police have decided not to take any further action. A spokesperson for the force said: We have carefully considered the available evidence in relation to a photograph taken at a political event in Bristol and subsequently shared on social media as part of a gallery of 20 images. Particular consideration has been given to the context around the image; its use of song lyrics, and the marketing of the T-shirt as a satirical piece. No complaints were received from people at the event at which it was worn and there is no evidence the wearer of the T-shirt intended to threaten any individual, or encourage anyone else to do so. As a result, a senior detective has determined that the threshold for a criminal offence has not been met and no further action will be taken. The safety of elected politicians is something we take extremely seriously and we continue to take action wherever a threat is identified. The affected parties have been updated of our decision.

Another day at #EMF2026, another departure board design - this time from Switzerland's own SBB. Unfortunately the calling patterns from Ledbury are either only 1 station (Hereford), or too many to list on my computer monitor, so only Colwall makes the cut for screen size

The trains themselves have a rectangular bar with the operators logo, then the scheduled departure time, then the destination (and intermediate "via" stops, if they fit), then the platform number, then any notes about delays/cancellations to that train.

Ah the compulsory reservations are on the Frankfurt - Brussels route again this summer. Issue is... well there's no way to cancel them or amend if you won't travel on train. The result? Well it's a "full" train and cannot board without ressie but the carriage is 4/5s empty leaving Cologne 🤪

The railway has finally improved its timetable release dates across the board - the december timetable is already in systems and operators can sell tickets. A far better option than even a couple of years ago when you had to wait til far too close to book.

Remember Streeting's review into whether young people are being overdiagnosed with ADHD, autism, and mental health issues? Well, the interim report is out, and there's a reason the media are silent on it (spoiler: it proves what a lot of us have been saying all along)

In others, notably ADHD and autism, rising diagnoses and referrals appear to exceed changes in underlying epidemiological prevalence and are likely to reflect a combination of: improved recognition changing help-seeking behaviour institutional incentives pressures within existing service pathways Across both ADHD and autism, best currently available population-based estimates remain relatively stable, while administrative diagnoses, self-identification and recorded service demand have increased substantially. In autism, the evidence also points to particularly rapid growth in identified need within educational systems, including increasing identification among girls and among young people without learning disability.These patterns suggest that rising demand is not simply the result of increasing prevalence, but of several processes operating simultaneously, including: real increases in distress in some groups improved recognition of previously unmet need changing expectations about support systems that frequently rely on formal diagnosis as the primary route to assistance Across the system, support is too often accessed through pathways that are slow, fragmented and heavily dependent on diagnostic categorisation. While diagnosis remains essential for some forms of clinical decision-making, the evidence suggests that current arrangements do not always provide the most effective or efficient way of identifying and responding to need. In particular, where access to support depends heavily on formal diagnosis, demand for diagnostic assessment can increase more rapidly than systems are able to respond, generating long waiting times, duplication of assessment and pressure on specialist services. The next phase of the review will therefore focus on clarifying the relationship between distress, diagnosis and need, and on examining how systems might respond more effectively to these patterns. A central objective will be to identify opportunities for developing more coherent, evidence-informed care pathways that enable support to be provided earlier and more proportionately, while ensuring that specialist services are available in a timely and appropriate manner for those whose needs are most complex.

Screengrab from bbc news website that says Thames Water has returned to a full-year profit after hiking its customers bills by 40% last year. The UK's largest water company reported post-tax income of £113m for the 12 months to the end of March, swinging from a £1.51bn post-tax loss the previous year. However, the firm's net debt also swelled to £18.5bn from £16.8bn as it said it "continued to fund the business through... debt and internally generated cash flows". Chief executive Chris Weston said: "The progress we have made in turning the company around has meant we are now performing better."
