Oakland has had a street design upgrade at this location in development since the 90s, but not yet built. The project design includes a new left turn lane and signal phase for High Street, separating the vehicle turn and pedestrian movements. This change could have saved Keith’s life.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Ronaldo Salgado relayed his panicked search for his father Lorenzo Salgado Araujo as he joined local legislators in calling on authorities to conduct a full and transparent investigation into the Araujo's killing by ICE.

He saw a video of a Mexican man shot by ICE. It was his father.

The eldest child of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo said his father was “a family man” who was likely frightened by the unmarked vehicles following him.

This Danville, VA city council candidate made a very dramatic video about sidewalks and public safety, and I love it and him. Worrying about a possible milkshake duck situation, I looked at his FB page, but he seems ok. Juneteenth celebrations, community outreach, Methodists. A solid old gent.

SCANDINAVIANS No people on earth, probably excel the Scandinavians, and scarcely any equal them, unless it may be the Swiss mountaineers, in attachment to their native country. The Scandinavian emigrant brings with him to this country, not only his love of home, but his attachments to customs and habits of his old home. So strong is this passion that it is hard for him to assimilate to the customs of his new home, and to conform to the ideas of American citizenship, but he remains in his adopted land, a foreigner, in all that pertains to his modes, manners, habits, likes and dislikes.This peculiar habit of our Scandinavian fellow citizens, and this strong, over-mastering attachment to their native land, has not been generally known and appreciated by our own citizens, "to the manor born." It will take several generations to wear away this foster land attachment, and to assimilate the Scandinavian emigrant, and absorb him into the language, habits, customs and true idea of a homogeneous American citizenship.
