Unemployment at its highest level for 11 years, did I see? And THAT INCLUDES THE COVID AND LOCKDOWN TIMES. Thanks to the Ardern government that protected jobs and businesses at the time.

There is no-one on this good earth more vacuous and less worthy of engaged comment than a declared 'provocateur'. A cultural housefly.
TL;DR: When the British Medical Association's long-awaited review of the Cass Review was published, the media said it had "dropped its opposition" and "vindicated" Cass. But, according to doctors who were on the BMA's review team, that's not what actually happened.
Reporting about British Medical Association critique of Cass Review was 'factually wrong'
The mainstream media's reporting of vital information about trans healthcare was wrong. Again.

i was waiting for a bus when it snowed briefly in Pōneke and unashamed to say i delighted in it like a child would. bounced around trying to catch snowflakes in my hands and mouth, laughed my head off, and yelled out "it's fucken SNOW!!" best five minutes of winter so far, 10/10 hope it snows again.

When someone is described as "often controversial, never boring" in 2026 it just means: full nazi but also part of the establishment.
They don't build library systems like this anymore: inside the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris in 1938, a librarian stands next to a pneumatic tube, holding a reader's call slip requesting access to printed materials (Jacques Boyer/Roger-Viollet) 🗃️
'The Tribunal was listening. It has now said, as clearly as it can, that what happened here was wrong. That it hurt Māori. And that the Crown needs to stop and do this properly. That doesn’t change what the government does next. But it changes what the record shows.' #NzPol
“When the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Bill was resoundingly defeated at its second reading in parliament, it seemed like Te Tiriti was safe. It was not.” — Jack Potaka.
Going to restate this with regard to ACT's "beating naughty children" policy, which has nothing to do with what children, parents or teachers want, and everything to do with making insecure old white men feel like they're still lords of the universe despite contributing nothing of value to society
Mostly 50+ year old men who "don't recognise their country anymore" and twentysomething year old men who in theory would have big families if they could only find a submissive tradwife
“Watching Winston Peters shout at Lawrence, his face seemed like the face of every person who has yelled the same words at migrants of colour, repeating the same racist imperative. It is the face of a society that has enabled and normalised racism. It is old skin that refuses to shed.” #nzpol
Why we call Winston Peters ‘Lao Pi’ | E-Tangata
“Mandarin-speaking communities are so familiar with Winston, we have nicknamed him 'Lao Pi'. Lao Pi is like that grumpy neighbour everyone knows is a problem. Except he’s not a random neighbour. He is...

In times like these, it’s important to pay attention to the grand unifying narratives ideas are hooking on to. Like that children are there to be controlled by adults, like babies and birth are commodities to be controlled by the state, like citizenship is a state more valuable than non-citizenship.
The majority of these kids have disabilities, are non speaking, developmentally delayed, etc. Neither schools nor parents are getting the funding they need for adequate interventions, training, or support. Fining parents exacerbates the financial strain. Manhandling kids leads to abuse. #nzpol
Always punitive with the right. They haven’t met a problem that can’t be solved by simply adding more punishment. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/...
Luxon’s latest jibes at small business owners that we need to be “adults” about our businesses & radically retool etc. How do you find 300 extra kids a term we lost when they have moved out of your area & can’t afford your product with all the job losses in our region? What money bro?
As a teacher & someone who has taught a wide range of students with a wide range of behaviours, there are ways of either de-escalating any conflict or removing yourself & the other kids. If a safety plan isn’t in place with your school, it needs to be
With highly-pathogenic avian influenza now in NZ, we're taking steps to protect #kakapo and #takahe by vaccinating against the disease, following a successful trial. We're aiming for ~90 kākāpō and 100 takahē in an initial phase to protect the most valuable birds/sites. #conservation #birds
#nzpol Yeah, nah. Just one question ... Is there an adult in the room? For now is the time that Aotearoa desperately needs (at least) one 😥😭.
This Winston Peters R slur shit has me apoplectic. Not just because he said it, we don't expect better from him, but bc the way our media irresponsibly, gleefully repeated it, put it in the headline, didn't say "the Deputy PM used a word so archaic, offensive and bigoted we will not repeat it."
I know I’ve made this point before, but I want to make it again. We all have ideologies, and we all have politics. The idea that we don’t is naive at best, and disingenuous at worst. All claiming otherwise does is disguises our own ideological position, our own Overton Window of preferred politics
TOP’s “Let’s take the ideology out of politics” is akin to “let’s take the water out of the oceans”. Politics IS ideology FFS.

At first glance, this little katydid nymph might look like he's blushing, but in fact he's got a parasitic mite attached to him. Imagine having a tick on you the size of a grapefruit. I don't think one mite will kill the katydid, but it's gotta be annoying. #BugSky 🐙🌿📷
This proposed restructure at NZQA has the potential to significantly impact ākonga Māori and kura kaupapa Māori through the disestablishment of Ngā Poutoko Aromatawai Māori, which protects the use of mātauranga Māori in assessment practice. The PSA is supporting our members to resist these changes.

the current NZ govt is so anti-science that they've changed eligibility for the Prime Minister's Science Prizes to rule out awards to people doing basic science eg from 2026 the MacDiarmid is for work with "potential to generate econ, health, social, or env benefits for New Zealand" #nzpol
