Also notable is the absence of any actual "bikeway" from the illustration
Ah, yes. FWHA illustrating a bikeway design guide with an image of cyclists who look like they should be on a track. 1978. I'm sure this was the last year that image of cyclists dominated engineering guidance ...
About a week ago, there was a Bob Seger kerfuffle on here. For everyone who claimed he sucked, here's a classically trained opera singer analyzing "Night Moves". youtu.be/YOUkSUoVlh8?...

#scriptsky You need to follow @theplotdoc.bsky.social if you want to ensure the medical stuff in your script isn't just a whole lotta bullshit
On the topic of venom/poison, an ambulance/hospital isn’t a magic cure. A doctor can’t instantly diagnose what’s causing your character’s symptoms. Sometimes it takes a few weeks…after the autopsy. #writing #scriptsky #gamedev
Happy Ray Bradbury apocalypse day to all who celebrate.
I'd love your input. What tips you over the edge from a MAYBE to I MUST PREORDER NOW when it comes to books? 🌱 Monstera is out 10/13, and I usually do a preorder campaign where you get a signed bookplate and a variety of my book stickers and postcards, but I want to know what YOU really want!
The lies and disinformation about #ClimateChange are constant. Don’t be fooled, and help call them out.
They can say summers have always been hot and we’ve always had wildfires and they can tell themselves all day that everything is the same as it always was but you know better They can gaslight themselves but not you. #ExtremeHeat #Wildfires #Smoke #ClimateChange #abpoli #cdnpoli
We’ve played #Everdell twice recently again and I love it. It’s just so pretty! And sweet. And not stressful in any way... other than losing, lol. I came in 2nd the other day and 3rd tonight (out of 4). It’s so fun building a little forest village with forest creatures, I don’t mind.
Everdell is SO pretty and I love the concept of building small forest villages (they call them “cities”) with little characters and neat structures
That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.

Shootings happen in Oakland more often than you know. They don't get national attention. Last week, not far from where I live, 25 year-old Kimarii McLemore was shot and killed at school in attack that's assumed to be targeted. She was scheduled to graduate her carpentry program later in the day.

Every now and then someone takes a run at me along the lines of "I don't understand why you, a scifi writer, don't appreciate 'AI'," and I'm all, motherfucker, it's *because* I'm a science fiction writer I have the positions I have, how many times do we have to fucking yell "torment nexus," my dude
To once again paraphrase @doctorow.pluralistic.net: science fiction is a Luddite genre. It's all about *questioning* technology and its impacts on society.

I want the trains back. Tear out the highways and give me the trains.
A hundred years ago Los Angeles had a street car system that was the envy of the world. They stole it from us.
This is so so so important. And so ignored. We have a new shared bike/ped path being built in our city *with no shade.* Right near a school where tons of kids and parents walk and bike every day. In the blazing sun.
Almost every city in the world needs to urgently understand the need to get really good at planning and designing for shade. #UrbanHeat

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

Sad news. Almost every screenwriter I know has referenced Trottier's book at least a few times.
Sad to learn this through Page Awards email. The #ScreenwritersBible is the first screenwriting book I read and I often go back to it. As part of the Final Draft prize package David signed a copy of the 7th Edition. #ScriptSky #Scriptsky+ #Screenwriting #WritingCommunity
