media when maga wins an election: we must travel the country and speak to these voters and extend empathy to them and give credence to their bigotry and false beliefs media when the left wins an election: is this the end of the american experiment

It’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.

The reason Zohran scares the shit out of them so much is that they think this sort of technocrat FDR liberalism/market socialism will *work* and be popular, not that it will fail and be unpopular. They're afraid that he will be a good mayor not a bad mayor.

lowtax speedrun enjoyer@rickywlmsbong.bsky.social · 2w ago

zohran is a completely normal (mixed-market socialist/new-deal liberal/whatever) and it’s completely frying the brains of people with too much money or whose livelihoods are built on catering to the opinions of people with too much money

When a politician dies, they weren't your friend, you aren't close to their family, they are not owed your polite fictions or any obligation to not speak ill of them. They were public figures who wielded immense power and their death is as good an occasion as any to say what you think of them.

No statement from Mitch McConnell on the sudden passing of his senate colleague? So much for decorum

The chair of the Maine Democratic Party said on @lawrenceodonnell.bsky.social last night that each day that passes where Platner doesn't drop out makes it harder for them to execute a good and fair plan to replace him. What a fucking asshole.

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social · 4w ago

Axios is reporting that Platner has said he won't file paperwork to withdraw before Monday, which is the final day he can do so (and four days from now). www.axios.com/2026/07/09/g...

Massachusetts is about as pure of a distillation of America as you can get. It's where the country started, it's filled with precious national history, it's a paragon of education and civic engagement, it's filled with the loudest and most irritating people alive.

Humphrey's Executor is dead and the president can fire anyone in the executive branch at will but NOT Federal Reserve governors is really a parody of the difference between the money power and everything else in America

I’m *SO* much more productive when I’m sitting on Zoom calls from a conference room downtown than from my home office.

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Some bosses say full-time, in-person work boosts productivity or collaboration. “Our new research reveals that the objection to any work from home is more likely to be driven by something else entirely: ego,” write Adam Grant, Marissa Shandell and Courtney Elliott.

Musk buying twitter, Bezos buying WaPo, Ellison buying CBS—all are less profitable now. But they’re political investments that increase the value of the new owners’ portfolios Wealth concentration makes this possible, and that’s one mechanism by which inequality destroys democracy
