Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.
Terrible news, especially for their workers. Just a deeply disappointing ending for such a promising company. I hate this.

i really believe that *eventually* dem candidates will come to a consensus that putting out anything that looks like it touches AI/LLMs will make them look like tacky losers and backfire. i'm not sure when that will come, but it's pretty clear on an individual basis that AI-generated stuff backfires

Once again, I find myself wishing BlueSky had a mechanism for making private notes about individual users in the way you can on Mastodon. In this case, it wouldn't need to be very long.

I worked with Rod at the Today programme. He took no prisoners, but he was witty and personally capable of genuine warmth. My sympathy to his family.
I guess maybe to make it less of a shock for the Sensible Moderates, we should start being more direct and honest about people before they die. Cunt.

Right? The mid market is being decimated quality wise. Reliable restaurant chains in the hands of private equity eg Côte as an had beautifully fried chips, thickish steak and a fresh salad. Now it’s paper thin meat and sad fries and stale salad from a catering supplier a greasy spoon might use

In 2023 (the dawn of AI?), the Minnesota State Fair went the other direction and commissioned a crop-art piece by Liz Schreiber as that year’s commemorative art. Entirely created by hand, from real seeds, the work was so impressive the Fair stopped commissioning commemorative art.

Dominic Dean@drdominicdean.bsky.social · 3d agoAgree with this - imo the kids are almost always going to get more out of a week or two weeks away than they are from the same time in school, particularly in primary and at the lower stages of secondary school. And rigid school holiday times are an effective extra tax on the less well off.
It’s morbidly interesting to have lived through a hugely significant historical event to see people misremembering it just five years after it happened.
What's bugging me about these lockdown takes is that lockdowns DID work! It's that so much of the West delayed or half-assed that so many unnecessary deaths happened. The lockdowns went on for longer than they could have because we didn't act quickly and decisively enough in the first place.
There are former politicians who ran our country who should be going to bed, haunted every night, that if they'd acted sooner, they could've saved more lives.
