As I've said before: What high-paying long-term jobs do they pretend exist here? A data center isn't a place where execs come and do Big Deals. Go to the server room at your workplace; are there lots of rich people in there spending money?

Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

This is a well-produced segment. I encourage you to watch so you can hear the noise for yourself. The professor of environmental health science that they interviewed called it an “unprecedented new noise source.”

Dead or alive, Mitch McConnell is on extended medical leave — on your dime. This is the same Mitch McConnell who voted against: paid family and medical leave for everyone else.

Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”

When the average score on a take-home midterm was 96, a professor at Brown was concerned students were cheating with AI. Almost 20 students dropped the class after he switched the final to in person. Also, more people have placed a bet in the last year than have read a book. I’m sure it’s fine.

Scientists who study climate don't automatically attribute all changes to human activity. Rather, we carefully investigate every possible natural factor that could explain the planet's warming. Could these be the real culprits? The evidence is in--and the answer is NO. This thread explains! 🧵

A graphic with an icon of the sun, a wiggly line denoting natural cycles, and a volcano, with a title reading "WHY is climate changing?" created by me. Not fancy, as my graphic design skills lean to function over art!

You can’t own anything physical anymore, everything is digital, you can’t own anything digital now, storage is too expensive, you cant stream anything because they took it off the service once their parent company got bought out, you can’t get a McFlurry because the machine is broken

Thanks to this post from @loudpoet.com I learned the Authors Guild totally threw #libraries under the bus claiming they cut into authors' income Then this dude named James Patterson released an article in agreement James. Patterson. The dude who sucks up library budgets both physical and digital

"One of its rare, serendipitous thematic arcs!" On anti-library authors, selectors vs. readers, the death of search, small things, and a Bronx flashback.

…Are you kidding me? This country's treatment of voice actors is fucking abysmal. Aqua Teen Hunger Force essentially built Adult Swim, & if there were any justice, Carey Means shouldn't have to work another day in his life. Between this & Andy Merrill's trouble, i just… what the fuck. What the fuck.

'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' star says he is homeless: 'We have no money'

'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' voice actor Carey Means said that he is homeless as he asked for financial help with a GoFundMe campaign: 'We have no money.'
