Honestly it seems like every American wants to believe that they can return to pre-2016 arrangements, while not understanding that after Trump 2.0 other countries will definitely be leery of that. These countries also know that they can put conditions on any effort to just turn back the clock.

You’d legitimately see the rise of a domestic Hispanic IRA if something insane like that were to happen. It actually terrifies me that so much of the GOP can’t see how much military action in Mexico would destabilize domestic politics

I will say this. Quebec separatists usually come from a genuine belief that Quebec is a distinct culture and nation that should be a country. Alberta separatists seem to think of separation as a big "I'm mad" button that will magically force Ottawa to write them checks for being very special boys.

I'm from Kansas and recently did a huge roadtrip (last week) around the Northern Rockies. The topography of Glacier Ntl Park and the Fraser Canyon in BC was incomprehensible as I was driving through them. Also somehow Utah and Wyoming make 80 mph feel like 50 mph.
