EA's annual Ebitda is around $1.5 billion, which should be enough to service the interest payments. But the publisher has told debt investors that it will cut $700 million in annual costs including $170 million in "organizational efficiencies," per Bloomberg. In other words: mass layoffs

it is baffling to me that for 15-20 years we have known that authenticity sells and now everyone including small video creators are farming out their production process to the generic-ass-robot-output production machine just absolutely self defeating nonsense behavior

Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

My 4E group are going to be screaming about the image of a boat I made for them, as a capstone joke reference to an injoke for the entire four year campaign, for ages. And I sketched it for them and made it's accompanying puzzle in half an hour before the session started. One of them left enraged.

"I'm entitled to whatever I want whenever I want it for any reason and I don't care what satisfying these urges does to me or the world" well okay dude, seems like there's something deeper going on here, but that's just my take

It's a little bit funny to me that code is written in imperative tense. I don't know what else it would be written in but still, I'm absolutely picturing a person looking at a computer, pointing to a printer and demanding "print 'hello world'!"

Let's cannibalize a beloved perfect old game and split it into five fucking games so that we can sell each of them for 80 dollars. Let's spread that shit niiiiice and thin. It's the same energy to me as the stupid god damn Hobbit movies. It REEKS. Frankly I won't trust Squeenix execs for years.

Aww but I need a version where there's eight additional scenes of Ceres pouting about what the empire doing being bad before she becomes playable, a nine hour backstory section for Banon, and for Kefka to derail the entire plot for a thousand hours because he refuses to lose and knows he's in a play

A Final Fantasy 6 remake is a difficult prospect because it would need four or five games to do the story justice, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida says. "I understand the feelings of the players, but you’ve got to think about it," he says. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/a-final...

Yes, there's a lot of garbage out there made with image and audio generators. And generally speaking, it sinks like a stone. Nobody wants to buy that. People want games made by real human perverts powered by fetishes that we don't have the words to describe yet.

yes! as someone who’s been working in procedural text before LLMs were a thing, I really wish people had a sense of the varieties of procgen writing that *aren’t* genAI output. there’s a ton of stuff we can do (including pre-LLM, ML style AI) that’s nothing like chatbot output directly in a game.

Thank you! Very illuminating. We’re so fixated on genAI right now, it’s useful to be reminded of the varieties of synthetic and procedural text flowing through different kinds of experiences.
