What is the last short story or book you read and loved that was written by a trans author?
I've been doing this for 30+ years, and let me tell you, I am TIRED. Always, with labor, the people DOING THE WORK are the most exploited, and paid the least. It does not have to be this way
The whole system is designed for maximum extraction of authors, compared, and musicians. No reason for this to be different! *sigh*
Surprise! I’m actually meeting these two VAs TODAY✨ I made this for them to sign 😩❤️
I am still so furious that Bantam didn't register copyright on three of my books but is getting half the money on the two they registered.
If you're wondering why authors are getting so rabid here: First Anthropic stole our books. Then we got denied compensation because of US unjust copyright law and publishers failing to meet their contractual obligations. Then publishers and agents apparently claimed author shares. Now this.
Anthropic settlement writers, if you've gotten an email like this, would you please forward it to Writer Beware? Thanks! beware@sfwa.org
@victoriastrauss.com This is the email from one of the shark companies trying to coerce authors who have a claim in the #anthropic case to sell their claim. Is this even legal? The company name 'Trained on You' is not ominous at all. 😬
Help me boost this! 🤗🤗🤗 Spread the word about this awesome little Patreon community! Like and repost!
Hello!! I'm a disabled queer black artist who's trying to make a liveable wage with my art. It's my dream to be a successful freelance artist. For as little as $3 a month, you can help me achieve that goal! I would greatly appreciate you liking and sharing so I can find my audience!! Link below!
I didn't even use the fucking title in my promo piece. WHY, past!Kharm?
My second fic for Rarest of them All: BNHA Rare Pairs Bang 24 is now up! I wrote this MomoChako piece to go with Saint Artemis' art!
Did not tag this one properly at ALL when I posted it apparently, but there is a fic to go with Saint's beautiful art! archiveofourown.org/works/55349176
Just wanna reminisce about this art for a bit ✨
LRP The way I went from writing fanfics inspired by my relationship with my (now ex) husband, to realizing as the years passed that I still wrote krbk just as loving and domestic but no longer saw that in my personal life.

Strange way to spell "Realize they are in a bland loveless relationship" but ok

From the very beginning of this recent obsession with identifying everyone online (yes, they like to call it "age" verification, but it always ends up as identity verification), we've been pointing out that it was a huge privacy nightmare waiting to happen. Or maybe it wasn't waiting. Maybe it was already happening. This week a...

My post from earlier today about the craziness around Anthropic claim notices, updated with both of the notices writers are receiving, and a list of literary agents who are trying to claim a share of payouts writerbeware.blog/2026/09/04/a...
Just in the few minutes since I posted this, I've gotten enough responses to indicate that these mistaken claims aren't uncommon or isolated. Please keep passing them on beware@sfwa.org
I know I already posted about this...but to reiterate: Anthropic copyright settlement authors, PLEASE contact me (Writer Beware) if your publisher is making a claim on a book whose rights have reverted, or claiming anything other than a 50/50 split on an in-contract book. beware@sfwa.org

FINALLY: If anyone gets a response from a publisher that is something along the lines of "yeah, we just asserted ownership for all titles that had our name listed as publisher regardless of reversion status" PLEASE send that information to me or @victoriastrauss.com.
New Q: what do you do if your publisher claims 100% of the proceeds rather than just their 50%? First of all: yuck, gross. Second: PLEASE report this to @victoriastrauss because she is collecting data and this will help show a pattern and practice of behavior.

lord, another thing to look out for, folks with books whose rights were reverted
Hey, so based on what other people have said, and what I have now myself experienced, it appears to me that publishers are, um, how do I say this... Not doing a good job (or possibly any job) of checking to see if rights have reverted on a work before claiming them in the settlement.
As promised, I made an art challenge all about diversity for #Inktober (and beyond)! I hope this inspires you to challenge yourself, break out of your comfort zone, and diversify your art! Maybe some new fun characters will come from it too. ✨ #Inktober2026 #DiversifyArt #OCSky #Drawtober
