The retractable bollards should have already been installed. It should be fully pedestrianized Thursday to Sunday at a minimum. Spend the downtown money on the downtown we already have.

The DSA in Wilmingotn, N.C. has created a "crisis" by putting benches at city bus stops, after literal decades of the city promising and failing to do so.

Reminds me of the time I was a passenger in my friend’s car. He honked at some pedestrians and yelled “don’t walk on the road!” And I’m like “dude, look! There is no sidewalk.” He calmed down. He had a long day. I told him, “wanna get mad? get mad at whoever designed this place with nowhere to walk”

My favorite thing is when drivers yell at me to "get in the bike lane" on a road that has no bike lane

I wasn't crazy with how the Places markers were loading on the map, so I updated how they render to be cleaner. Also, deduping from OSM data wasn't working well for Bus Stops. I went ahead and wired up a GTFS connection to query stops from it instead. Hard refresh plz if you have any goofiness.

Omg sorry I'm on this again but I just noticed that one of the commenters against the safety improvements is BLAMING THE BIKE BUS FOR DANGEROUS CONDITIONS. WHAT???

"Medina has prior arrests in connection with allegations of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm, assault causing bodily injury and reckless driving, among other purported offenses." It needs to be a lot easier to take someone's license away before they use their car as a weapon.

Hey TN peeps! I need to rehome a vintage Santana tandem (late 90s) in rideable condition. 3x8 mixed drivetrain, with the third (optional) drag brake. I don't care about selling it I just want to avoid the scrap heap. I have a car rack for it too, and (I think) an adapter for little kids. LMK!

You aren’t. Which is part of the reason we are trying to get you to help us now. So when it happens to you, you get spared this course of hurdles complete with judgment every which direction.

Sometimes disabled people hold back talking about our experiences with ableism because we get called complainers or malingerers or fakers because nondisabled people with no experience have no idea. They genuinely think if you get disabled, it’s sad, but at least you’re taken care of.

If we get through this current moment, part of whatever comes next is regulating these vehicles out of existence, no matter how long it takes. No society should tolerate such a deadly consumer product that serves no purpose other than making people feel tough and strong. (I know, I know. Guns, too.)

The rise of larger vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks, with their taller hoods and larger blind zones, has contributed to a 75% increase in pedestrian and cyclist deaths since 2009. Until we design better streets and ban these vehicles, people outside these vehicles will keep dying.
