I read the Lance Esplund piece for the WSJ thinking I would be annoyed, but I actually do not entirely disagree with some of his critiques of the Lucas Museum.
I hate doing the "a rollback of trans rights is the gateway for a rollback of women's rights" thing because trans rights are human rights in and of themselves, whatever the impact on cis women. But goddamn I wish more cis women had a sense of history and self preservation.

I don't like genAI for MANY reasons but one of the most obvious reasons is bcuz it's just an extension of a battle artists were already fighting. People are TERRIBLE about crediting artists. It's always been a problem but genAI offers an easy excuse to not think of artists as real people.
Few people are willing to stand up and speak the truth these days, but I'll say it: books are good.

Ryan Estrada@ryanestrada.com · 2mo agoThe biggest target I've ever seen on my books. Texas placed Banned Book Club and Occulted on a state-wide list of illegal "dirty books." Having them in any school could lead to state takeover where the government could shut down the library entirely and convert it into a student detention center.
