A decade ago, a “weird” kitten was found on a road near a Bolivian forest. Too small to be a housecat, he had a scrunched-up face, short round ears, long whiskers, & a coat of leopard-like spots. DNA analysis now reveals him as the very first of a newly discovered species & I think I'm in love. 😻🧬🧪👇

You're watching a sand bubbler crab hard at work. And bubbler crabs have one job: make balls. Lots of balls. With your mouth parts. They're filter-feeders/detrivores, combing through damp sand for microscopic food & the balls let them organize the "cleaned" sand so they don't nom it twice.

Dozens of Black-Veined White butterflies (Aporia crataeai) swarm a kayak by the Vagran River in the Ural Mountains of Russia. 🦋 The butterflies are attracted to the salt from human sweat on the kayaker's gear and clothing. This happens in early summer when these butterflies emerge. #butterfly

I have an important bird fact to share. Yesterday I was hiking and heard a baby bald eagle… or so I thought. Turns out that bald eagles actually make a chirping noise so the red-tailed hawk is the eagle’s voice actor! All this time. Everyone quietly lies and subs in the hawk. Everyone in the US!
It’s absolutely standard in American entertainment to reject the authentic chirpy whistle of a bald eagle and sub in the red-tailed hawk’s robust commie scream
