the thing about having actual principles is that when a politician I respect does some stupid shit I can just be like, “that sucks, knock it off” instead of inventing an imaginary world where I’m forced to defend stupid shit for procedural 4d chess reasons

It's horrifying to be in the early stages of an era where an abstraction with so much value (data) is being pillaged, all while the vast majority have yet to understand what is being taken. It's not a shiny rock, or a patch of fertile dirt, but a concept with fuzzy boundaries for most.

After destroying the U.S. foreign aid system, the Trump administration is now demanding multiple African nations hand over their citizen's sensitive health care data in exchange for life-saving healthcare funding. This is the data colonialism nightmare a lot of us were worried about 10 years ago.

"Anti-immigrant protesters". For a business that purports to communicate information, you are pretty terrible at doing so. Since when has it been ok to "protest" other human beings for who they are? And you choose to validate their immoral premise, @nbcnews.com.

i disagree with this statement so vehemently that i am momentarily speechless. id have to unravel dozens of axioms and presuppositions before i could even begin to put myself in the mind that could construct this sentiment

enraged. But if coders are more upbeat, it's because their encounters with A.I. are diametrically opposite to what's happening in many other occupations, says Anil Dash, a friend of mine who is a longtime programmer
and tech executive. "The reason that tech generally - and coders in particular - see L.L.M.s differently than everyone else is that in the creative disciplines, L.L.M.s take away the most soulful human parts of the work and leave the drudgery to you," Dash says. "And in coding, L.L.M.s take away the drudgery and leave the human, soulful parts to you!"

Is a Senator who interferes with Capitol Police to break the bones of a Marine Corps veteran who's staging a protest subject to arrest for battery, or does that somehow fall under the Senator's constitutional privilege?

This cartoonishly childish Hegseth persona is an insult to the American military, the American people, the Iranian people, and just about everybody affected by this war. It is absolutely incredible, in the literal sense, that this man is at the hinge of the chain of command in this spiraling war.
