Drape yourself in greenery / become part of the scenery

as we saw with Charlie Kirk it’s extremely notable that no fans of Rod Liddle include any of their favourite quotes from him in their tributes

Haters focusing on Liddle's violence toward his pregnant partner, his galloping racism, or his repeated defences of paedophilia, should remember to mention he was also one of the worst writers to ever do it. A calorie-free hack of the first water. Just absolute dogshit, back to front.

Walking into the cinema to go see The Odyssey while carrying an LRB tote bag and a highlighted copy of Emily Wilson’s review. It impresses all the staff, and they offer me a free bag of popcorn. I refuse, as I pull out my container of Kimchi. Everyone stops what they’re doing and applauds

i think in hindsight steve jobs' greatest skill as a manager was being easily tricked by things like "hiding sony engineers in cupboards" or "a department wide conspiracy to let the graphic calculator guy finish his work" and not getting mad about it when it all worked out anyway

So glad I will get to experience watching The Odyssey as someone who doesn’t care that it’s a poem or whatever, you won’t catch me caring about its faithfulness, I will simply be whispering to the person next to me “that’s the horse” when the Big Wooden Horse appears

I'm not sure the Neuromancer TV show looks weird enough. The novel is a future full of extreme bodymodding: people with fusing themselves with animal DNA, and having shark cartlidge for a face, and robot arms. Give me more freaks please.

I realized that I haven't shared some updates to the renderer for my Playdate prototype. Here's the masked texture support so I can have windows and railings. Also now I can add hidden doors. And finally, the latest update to the swimming controls and the creepy office with the cleaned up textures.

Hey, can anyone recommend me some good TTRPG books to read for fun? Especially ones that have some kind of solo play (not necessarily though). Just want some good world-building, any genre...

People plump for the 50k because they’re answering a different question. They’re being asked “Can you afford to turn down a guaranteed fifty grand” and for most people, the answer is going to be “No”, regardless of how many times you tell them it’s obviously better to flip the coin.

a famous discourse in the podcast group chat is "$1 million dollars or flip for a billion?" mostly because the discussion causes me to lose my mind

the yougov poll going around about $50k guaranteed vs a flip for a million has brought the topic back up and once again i'm not handling it well

It's in a trans friendly field camp listening to a jungle radio set DJed by Terry Wogan (impersonated) over a phone service that you call into, that really underlines how much most spaces are miserable because they've been engineered to be miserable on purpose by ppl worried what fun might lead to.
