Prime Minister Mark Carney has declined to rule out ever having commuter jets fly into Billy Bishop airport, but said his government is focused on improving Toronto’s transport network in other ways — including an expansion at Pearson airport and construction of the Alto high speed rail line. Appearing Wednesday in Scarborough, Carney spoke for the first time about his government’s decision to scuttle Premier Doug Ford‘s dream of an expanded airport on the waterfront. But while he stressed criteria for safety upgrades at Billy Bishop that his government supports, along with standards to limit noise and protect the environment, the prime minister would not rule out commuter jets using the airport in the future. “Forever is a long time,” Carney said. “But let’s make it clear, it’s a small part of a much bigger puzzle.”

Can confirm. As Gabe posted this I'm in beautiful Prague riding trams that are nearly 10km/h faster on average than Toronto's, despite having large sections in mixed traffic. Let's catch up with the rest of the world, reduce emissions and boost the economy!

I don't understand why a regional transit app must only work on the latest phones (within 5 years old). A public transit app should be as backwards compatible as possible to account for the ridership (older, lower income) -- did y'all not do ANY user research before accepting a bid? So ridiculous!

We call upon you to: • Resist the introduction of AI in our own software systems, from Microsoft to OpenAI to Apple. It is not in our interests to let our processes be corrupted and give away our data to be used to train models that are not only useless to us, but also harmful. • Ban AI use in the classroom for student assignments, in the same way we ban essay mills and other forms of plagiarism. Students must be protected from de-skilling and allowed space and time to perform their assignments themselves.
