Climate change never ignites a fire. That’s almost always humans or lightning. But it’s clear when we examine the data that climate heating sets the table for fires that burn faster and larger. Since the 1980s temperatures during fire season in the Pacific NW have warmed around 4°F… 1/

Unhealthy levels of smoke now affecting NYC. Particulate levels in NE MN and N WI/MI are firmly at hazardous levels approaching 500 µg/m³. It’s Summer 2023 all over again…

I wish more journalists would point out that Sen. McConnell and Rep. Tom Kean (missed 4 months of work) are/were essentially on paid sick & medical leave. The same employment protection they’ve spent their careers blocking other Americans from having.

Climate change is literally canceling US independence Day celebrations. The July 4 parade in Philadelphia, the birthplace of American independence, has been canceled due to extreme heat. Heat waves aren’t new - what’s new is that climate change is making them hotter and more dangerous.

Mamdani: "As we mark 250 years ... we see the wealthiest country -- one where children go to sleep hungry while the world's first trillionaire hungers for more ... we see masked agents terrorizing our streets, eating food cooked by undocumented neighbors before spiriting them away in unmarked vans"

Lest this estimate sound unreasonably high to you, remember that heat is often not recorded as the cause of death on most certificates. Excess mortality statistics have to be derived after the fact: and for the 2003 EU heatwave, they totalled 70,000. So this number may even be conservative. Source:

Insane self-blinding of the US. They are throwing away their investment in the ocean observation system and the benefits it provides. The only explanation I can think of: they don’t want the people to know what their fossil emissions are doing to our oceans. easternherald.com/2026/06/13/u...

When I move into a house I am just like anybody else: I like to immediately get settled in and orientate myself by drawing a map of the immediate area, themed entirely around the habits of squirrels.

A map of all the squirrel activity around the area surrounding the house I rented from the beginning of 2014 to the end of 2017

🚨 Carbon dioxide averaged 432.34 ppm in May 2026. This marks a new record high for the month of May and the annual seasonal peak. 10 years ago May averaged about 408 ppm. This continued rise is driven by human emissions from fossil fuels, with climate change impacts intensifying around the world.

Red line graph time series of monthly carbon dioxide abundance from January 1959 through May 2026. There is a seasonal cycle and long-term increasing trend. Current levels of CO2 are at 433 ppm. This is the Keeling Curve graph. A line for CO2 10 years ago is also annotated.

I’m a climate scientist. Let me fix this headline. “Nearly a century ago, scientists showed that burning fossil fuels warms the planet. Today, we know human emissions account for over 100% of the warming. Yet dark money and disinformation still work to keep Americans addicted to fossil fuels.”

Scientists have reached a consensus that human behavior is a big driver of climate change—but Americans aren't buying it.

A lot of people who should know better are treating the demise of RCP8.5 as some kind of "gotcha!" moment that somehow overturns the rather dire climate predictions of the past decade. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth!
