Disabled nurse, voracious reader, infertility struggler (fuck that warrior nonsense). It's never too late to start wearing a mask again.

I don’t care if you like its cultural output. The BBC has been a major player in the immiseration of this country, in the persecution of trans people, immigrants, muslims, travellers and disabled people, in the spread of dangerous rhetoric about climate change and vaccines. It must be dismantled.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

"what can I do?" Call your reps and tell them to vote no on the Online Safety bill package because things will get worse the more censorship laws are allowed to pass. Tell your reps that payment processors must allow legal content. Go yell at youtube for their shitty TOS.

This is *EXACTLY* why what Ken said was dangerous. If he was some smol beans account it would still have been fucking disgusting but faded into obscurity But Ken’s a celebrity. And he provided ammunition for monsters and essentially doxxed a trans woman making her a subject of international news

Post nicht verfügbar.

just said this on another post but it bears repeating: the thing about continuing to give money to any jk rowling properties or the nyt is not that they’re shitty about trans people, which they are. it is that both of these entities MATERIALLY CONTRIBUTE to the legal challenges to trans rights

The Roku Channel has all the major news networks' streams, but the advertisements, OH MY GOD! The advertisements are designed to look like news segments. Like, one minute there is a story about a lifeguard saving a child, and then

While we are in this Greek Mythology moment, may I remind you that Emma Thompson is adapting Pat Barker’s take on The Iliad, and she’s struggled to get it made bc the focus on what acts of war against women and survival thereafter actually look like (the core of Barker’s narrative) is too intense.

The actress told the Hay Festival she is writing a film version of Pat Barker’s The Silence of the Girls to draw attention to sexual abuse in war zones

I have grown tired of the workwear guy. He is paying the world’s richest Nazi for the privilege of a blue check in order to provide sassy engagement in the replies of a notorious sex trafficking serial rapist. These are the actions of a dunderheaded fool

it's still OK to just protect yourself/others to the best of your ability/access/privilege you don't need permission or approval from anyone it's tougher without community but not impossible you can still hand the person $5 or hold the elevator door open or put a mask on or boycott xyz just help

There are a lot of well-meaning guidelines on suicide prevention that frankly should not apply when the government is intentionally causing a suicide epidemic in a specific minority population.

if a democrat used a racial slur, would we still need to get behind that democrat because "the republicans are worse"? i can tell you that as a black person, i would not. there are things more important than party identity. why are we asking transgender people to do any different?

Roger. She did. However, because shit is stupid the only other option is a MAGA sycophant. I ask you this earnestly: who's going to be easier to hold to account? Also, what wins in Ohio does not translate to the rest of the country. Long time listener first time caller

Flock's platform is far more powerful and invasive than they and police pretend when they are at town halls talking to the public. You just need to look at what it's actually used for and how they teach cops to use it to see that: www.404media.co/how-cops-use...

Children are absolutely an oppressed and marginalized class and hating them and their existence in public is telling on yourself and your relationship with your own power in a *very* specific way. You are outing yourself as not a safe person

While we’re on the subject, I also think it’s weird freak behavior to be an adult who makes Hating Children For Merely Existing their entire personality.

For a lot of folks who "poop weird after Taco Bell," it's bc Taco Bell is their main source of fiber. 💀 Some people also like to pair Taco Bell with lots of ethanol. But "I drank so much I pooped crazy" sounds like YOU have a problem, & "Haha Taco Bell gross" sounds like *Taco Bell* has a problem

Blake @thornblake.bsky.social · 2w ago

I'm not entirely sure which statement is funnier: 1. Taco Bell's QA department doing a better job than the FDA and CDC. 2. Taco Bell having a top tier QA department and QA practices, but still managing to put out product that people can't trust a fart after eating.

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.

Taylor Farms, which supplies major fast food and grocery chains, was identified as the possible source of the cyclosporiasis outbreak Thursday.

"parasite outbreak blamed on taco bell because they're the only company reporting it" feels very "1918 flu blamed on Spain because they're the only country reporting it"

Taylor Farms grows lettuce in Salinas and Yuma. They also buy from other farms and process produce all over, incl Mexico & Europe. They've caused multiple outbreaks and sell under a variety of brands/labels to consumers and restaurants/food service. They're about a third of entire US salad market.

Kari Dru@karidru.bsky.social · 3w ago

The lettuce supplied to taco bell by taylor farms is bad. No taylor farms products are safe until this gets sorted out. But it's taco bell they're focusing on, because taylor farms are major republican donors.
