How about a Sunday #SketchvsFinal? Featuring the Painted Stork for the Nesting card in the upcoming board game Nature by NorthStar Games. I always get a kick out of seeing how far the finished versions have come compared to those early thumbnails! 🎨🪶🐡

Loose sketch over a card template of an adult Painted Stork on a stick nest in an acacia-like tree, with two gangly gray and fluffy juveniles at its feet. The adult stork, in contrast to the juveniles, has a brilliant red yead with a yellow beak, a dramatic black and white barring pattern on the wing, and then the tertials (overlapping the tail at the bird's rear) are bright pink fringed with white.Finished version of the previous sketch, with the details much more fleshed out and with tree branches rendered in the background.

I finished @slhuang.com's the Language of Liars a few days ago and I just needed to... Sit away from things because it's such a beautiful, wonderful, amazing, and incredible piece of... I want to say art but that word's so inadequate for how this sank into my soul and captured both the times and...

so after the appliance woes of the past months I can do with just a little bit of help with hotel and incidentals for Worldcon, so if you like some of the stuff I've made recently I'd love just a dollop of your assistance—and thank you for your generosity so far!

A lot of reviews can make an author cry, but only the best ones make us cry happy tears. I think this review is “essential reading.” Thanks so much @turnandwork.com for making my day. www.starsandsabers.com/books/the-as... @starsandsabers.bsky.social

P.A. Cornell ( @cornellwriter.bsky.social )’s short speculative fiction collection contains 21 stories that are brilliant, heartbreaking and unforgettable. Essential reading. More here:

Suspense is not created by your audience not knowing what happens next. It's created by your audience CARING what happens next.

www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/h... I really love this — the notion that it's about feelings, not plot twists. I wish more stories took this approach. Yes, even thrillers. Twists are rarely as surprising as the choices people make from the heart.

being a cruel asshole to a person online that your brain cant really see as a person seems to be an outlet that comes easier the worse shit gets if theres no healthy, emotionally mature way to deal with all that. struggling with ambiguity bc that can be exploited. all that is just really sad imo.

Posting these here first before auction sites just in case someone's interested. Two fountain pens that are great but I just don't use. A Platinum 3776 Gathered (M) and a Sailor Pro Gear (F). They deserve a home where they'll actually be used. DM if interested. Shares appreciated

*looks at phone calendar* ...Aw, nuts. It's Hungry Ghost Month, local moots, no hanging out too late or messing with offerings on the road!

The Ghost Festival is starting today! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_F... It's an important festival for Buddhists, where we offer generosity and compassion for spirits of the dead and hell-beings released momentarily from the underworld for a month, when they try to seek reprieve to their suffering.

Hello hello. I made a "Why Do You Adventure?" companion to my latest adventure - "What Happened to the Silver Spoon Boys?". You get to roleplay an adventuring reporter. (I lol-ed after typing that and I shall leave it at that).

A trip of adventurers, 2 in front are writing on palm leaf manuscripts while the one behind wields 2 swords.

So embarrassing when people think the point of reading a novel is to know the plot, so a summary is just as good. The plot isn’t important, you rube. You absolute simpleton. The point of reading a novel is to find out what the characters are eating and start thinking about what you want for dinner.

my birthday is Sunday and it would mean the world to me if you picked up a copy of my debut collection IS MY CHAINSAW A HEART: 13 CENTOS - the ebook is only $3 and you can take the free one if you really can't swing it. it means the world to me every time someone reads it.

Just found out a mangaka whose work meant a lot to me passed away. Almost two years ago. Cancer. I knew about his illness, but didn’t think the end would come so soon. Weird thing to sit with tonight, but here I sit.

banger thread. when i was on dating apps i put that i liked sff stuff and the number of dudes who would ask me if i had read asimov or dune (specifically dune, not herbert, though they would ask about asimov by name?) in a gatekeepingy way was like, well, it was almost every dude.

I am a girl. I like reptiles and horror movies and science fiction and comics and TTRPGs, and for my entire life, every time I have entered a space, I have had to prove that I didn't "steal" it from the person* it rightfully belonged to. (*Boy, then man.)
