All these companies apologising for using AI but still use it anyway, and yet its use over the past 5 years hasn't sped up game development at all - like it's supposed to. Quite the opposite in fact.

That's what I'm talking about.

I need to comb through and find the great details, decide what interests ME. No, it's not efficient. It's slow and painstaking. But I don't believe in efficiency as an ultimate good, especially in writing. /

My doomer-worry about AI is not that the LLMs become omnipotent and take over the world but that the wealthy and powerful use it as a means to consolidate power and marginalize or lay off skilled workers and also everything about our technological and political and social life gets worse

This is also why we should practice solidarity between different forms of art, with regards to Gen AI, and refuse slop in all its forms, at all stages of the process. According due respect to other people's work - the same respect we'd like accorded to ours - that should be the goal.

Most of us did not choose to write or draw or design so that we could put products on the shelf. We chose to do it because it’s a set of skills we enjoy exercising, that give us fulfillment. It’s like asking a pro pitcher to just let a machine pitch for them. Fuck off and give me the ball.

and listen making art is frustrating and miserable sometimes and sometimes it's not working and you need to go and sit on the toilet for a while and come back and redo a section you spent a week on and that is the Process and it is a thing that is Yours and it should not belong to a computer
