There are two possibilities here. Taylor Farms paid a shit ton of money to get the FDA to say this. Or DOGE decimated the FDA so significantly that they managed to fuck up a basic sample test. Neither one is great!

Trump doesn’t force people to do bad things. All he did was show people they could get away with being horrible if they really wanted to, and a lot of powerful people decided they didn’t need to pretend anymore. Especially those in influential positions who could push back but did not.

a politician basically has two jobs: 1. be effective at translating the needs of their constituents into policy, and 2. selling that effectiveness to voters. if you're getting outflanked by an energetic primary challenger, you've probably failed at least one of those jobs

A small example here but history really is going to judge this whole era as a revolt by very wealthy, important people against the idea that they too are subject to the law, and that there are limits on the level of criminality they can get away with without consequences.
