The most boring thing in the literary world is the beat sheet. Beat sheets have made everything duller, and sadly, trained readers to expect a strict sequence of beats/events and think that anything not following them is Wrong and Bad. In short, fuck save the cat and those like it

Dear people at #FantasyCon who are looking up our books on Amazon. The paper editions are cheaper here than online. The ebooks are the same price but Amazon doesn’t get a cut so the author gets more money.

Lost Talent, A #YAfantasy is out now, and getting some great reviews on Goodreads! 'very cozy magic meets found family' 'Emotional, action-packed with a great group of characters' 'world building and the characters were created with so much depth!' 'the plot and writing are incredible!'

This weekend at @britfantasysoc.bsky.social FantasyCon in Glasgow I will be on the panel ‘Cosy Horror: A Genre Blend Too Far?’ tonight at 6pm, and on ‘The Expectations of Cosy Fantasy’ tomorrow morning at 9am!

The #Fantasycon panel about pitching was really interesting. A good, pithy pitch goes a long way. Like 'Samurai Game of Thrones', or 'Pride and Predjudice and Zombies'. What's a pitch you heard that made you think, 'Yeah, I'm buying that!'

Yesterday @gsfwc.bsky.social launched our 40th anniversary 'Haverin' at @britfantasysoc.bsky.social #Fantasycon It's the first actual book I've been published in and I'm wild proud about it. There's also 42 other stories from 42 other awesome authors covering the range of speculative fiction.
