Democratic socialist. Healthcare as a human right. End the genocide in Gaza now.

The Trump regime admitted in court filings that the cancellation of clean energy grants for Hawaiʻi was because the state voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, rather than the previously stated reasons of advancing energy needs or economic viability.

Trump Administration Lawyers Admit Hawaiʻi Funding Cuts Were Partisan

The admission about terminated clean energy grants emerged in recent court filings, confirming what many already suspected.

A company that would experiment on its own users like this, and obfuscated what it was doing, is not one that will abide by any "duty to act responsibly." @ntusikov.bsky.social and I lay out exactly why not in this Policy Options piece. policyoptions.irpp.org/2026/07/bill...

Canada can’t regulate Big Tech by trusting Big Tech

Bill C-34 puts too much faith in Big Tech. Canada should regulate the algorithms, data practices and business models that drive online harm.

China can install 5GW of solar in 3 days when they're on a roll. How much power does #Sask need on the most power thirsty day? 6GW. That's right Saskies, With 1000 times less effort than China, Saskatchewan could be at 100% renewable power in just 3000 days. 8.2 years, or 2034. #skpoli

Don't look now, but the world has now installed 3TW of solar. Took 10 years to get from 100GW to 1TW. Less than 3 years to get to 2TW. Less than 2 years to get to 3TW. Analysts expect *9TW* by 2036.

Outside groups backing Haley Stevens have outspent groups supporting Abdul El-Sayed by roughly 13 to 1 in the Democratic Senate primary. The biggest spender? AIPAC’s super PAC.

Again it's vital to point out this approach by the PM makes Canada weaker not stronger: bsky.app/profile/sust... I find deeply weird - from a historic perspective - that anyone would think you can resist the U.S. by becoming *more* capitalistic. The opposite is true, especially in an influence war.

"When it comes to social, economic, and environmental policy, [the Carney government] is following through on its promise to “nation-build” with a sweeping program of austerity, deregulation and cuts," writes @lukewsavage.bsky.social. #GiftLink 🎁 #CdnPoli www.thestar.com/gift-redeem?...

Told @cnn both sides are under pressure and can't sustain this conflict indefinitely. Iran has borne greater pain, but its tolerance is higher because it sees itself as fighting a defensive war. But Americans' pain tolerance is lower because most opposed the war from the outset.

I hate the hindsight bias & revisionist history fuelled "middle ground fallacy" emerging (in media, politically, etc) around the attack on Fauci. We all (read: those who support science, justice, rationality, decency, reality...) need to stand against the lies, spin, and corruption.

I'm in the Star today with a piece on the Carney government's handling of relations with the United States. Last year, Canadians gave Mark Carney a mandate to disentangle our country from the empire to the south. By any reasonable standard, he's done the opposite. Link in first reply.

Senator Whitehouse said it better than anyone: "Climate risk makes things un-insurable. No insurance makes things un-mortgageable. No mortgages crashes the property markets. Crashed property markets trash the economy.” #wildfire #Spokane #insurance

The Great Climate Insurance Collapse is beginning before our eyes. How does it happen? Gradually, and then all at once. Buckle up. subscriber.politicopro.com/article/eene...

Taylor Farms salad is sold in Canada too. There was a...healthy amount left untouched on the shelf at my local Farm Boy yesterday I would appreciate a slightly more robust approach from CFIA, but perhaps they're still working out which of its 1,371 jobs to cut www.agrunion.com/jobs-cuts-at...
