EXCLUSIVE: Undercurrent interviewed the masked group who approached Clacton Town Hall polling station last night. We asked who they were and why they were there. Farage said he skipped the count due to an “organised campaign” to disrupt the result, but it's unclear who he meant.

Not a good showing for Farage. 27% for a joke candidate is very high (probably a record) and captures a pure anti-Farage vote. That over a quarter of the vote in the most Reform friendly seat in the country will instead back a man with a bin on his head shows how strong anti-Farage motivation is.

To put it another way Binface won the same % that the (very good) Britain Predicts model thought all the other main parties collectively would have got had they stood. So we can assume that had they stood Farage would have done far worse than expected based on polling/demographics.

Wow this is a bad result for Farage. In the most Reform friendly seat in the country should get more than this - and Binface’s result shows once again that the centre and left will vote for literally anyone to try and stop him.

A hugely embarrassing win for Farage in the Clacton by-election. Reform had been touting a 79% victory. Instead he got 63% against Count Binface who pulled in nearly 27%. Petulantly Farage didn’t turn up for the count to give a speech. The investigation into his finances begins again.

As I said I think the raw vote totals for Farage in an August semi uncontested by-election are impressive, but the vote share much less so - this is actually the lowest score for “the right-bloc” in Clacton since 2010 and points to the Tory voters who either sat it out or voted Binface.

And now the investigation into the £5 million secretly-gifted by an ‘economic migrant’ recommences. If nothing else has been achieved with this daft by-election, the idea that Farage is some sort of master strategist has been put to bed. It’s easy to look good when you’re getting free passes galore.
