I'm attending a digital humanities event in Montreal. There was a keynote on AI and something about the talk made me wonder if it had been written by Claude. I said as much in the Q&A. As I posed the question, the speaker shifted, looking slightly uncomfortable. What he said next shocked the room +
tl,dr; Scientists no longer allowed to use federal funding to publish, attend meetings, or talk to the public. They cannot collaborate internationally. Grants can be cancelled for any reason, at any time, political appointees have a final say over what gets funded, and who gets funded.

The Artemis Moon mission has been a real ray of sunshine for me. Hearing about their successful return to Earth has made me realize how used to feeling ashamed I've become. It's been so long since I felt some sense of pride in my country, or maybe even my humanity. I'm really thankful for them.
