the dream was of an infinite sea of knowledge presented open and accessible, the reality is culturally arrested children making adverts for disney products in their spare time

It’s played almost entirely for laughs so you can be forgiven for not remembering that in Far From Home, Tony posthumously grants Peter sole and total control of a VERY lethal drone army that only becomes a bad thing, narratively, when it’s hijacked.

This is 100% correct and I do think there’s something to say about Iron Man having embodied a kind of Obama era tech Utopianism that has kind of been uncritically transferred to Peter, whose response to various monstrous Tony inventions is basically “lol sure why not.”

grimly funny that in The Dark Knight, Batman’s city-wide surveillance is the moral crucible, the point at which he has clearly gone too far, while in Brand New Day it’s just something that Spider-Man does.

The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.

There’s a lot of chat about the use of GenAI in images, as there should be, but I’ve noticed a HUGE uptick in AI generated text in the social media output of official accounts for musicians (and presumably elsewhere) and whoever is deciding to do this is doing their clients such a HUGE disservice.

Trying not to post about Doomsday since I already have a podcast to bitch about the mcu but how do you panel line magnetos helmet man. Much less everything else about this
