Soft and squishy. Bisexual cis man. Male pronouns preferably.

🧵1/ I worked in anti-corruption for years before becoming an MP. Nigel Farage has serious questions to answer following the undercover investigation into Reform UK's fundraising practices. This is now for the police and donations watchdog to resolve, but here is what I want to know:

Reform officials ‘plotted to break law on foreign donations’ in undercover film

Investigation broadcast by Channel 4 News shows man posing as ‘impermissible donor’ paying for polling that helped Reform

If an organisation falls for a sting, agreeing to break the law or act unethically, then "we believe the sting had political/ideological motives" is a weaker mitigation than not falling for it! Some media or external stings may target left or right, other media outlets could try all flanks.

"If there there was a window it was not broken, but it if was broken it was not by Nigel Farage's ball, but if it was his ball he certainly did not kick it, and if he did kick it, it was an accident and he knew nothing about it" said a Reform spokesperson.

More footage from the site. Local media report one HUR officer was killed and two wounded in the Kyiv shooting involving HUR and SBU personnel. SBI representatives and the head of the SBU's Alpha unit arrived at the scene, and the sides agreed to unload their weapons for investigative actions.

A standoff between Ukraine's SBU and HUR is ongoing on Shumskogo Street in Kyiv, Ukrainska Pravda reports. Three HUR officers were reportedly injured. Police blocked the street, while SBI investigators and the head of the SBU's Alpha special unit arrived at the scene. #Ukraine

Do not speak to the BBC if you are trans. Just don't do it. Tell them to go fuck themselves. Even if you know the reporter and they are not an ass, tell them to go fuck themselves anyway because they work for the BBC and their editors will do this regardless of the journalist's intent.

More appalling behaviour from the BBC. ⬇️ A trans person interviewed about their horrific experience having their surgery cancelled whilst in the hospital described as 'biologically female'. And then half the article devoted to praising the work of an unemployed transphobe. 🗣️ DEFUND THE BBC 🗣️

IMV one manifestation of Starmer's lack of politics, and his general lack of interest in politics, is that he decided to go last week essentially because that's what Cameron did. There's no-one left around him to go 'you will look bad, you can just continue to be a non-presence for four years'.

While on today's subject: Winston Churchill was am MP until October 1964. Less than the months before his death and NINE YEARS and two General Elections after his Premiership. I'm not sure what he was actually doing in that time.

I wonder what songwriters who raged / laughed / wondered about growing old think about their lyrics now. Pete Townshend did not die before he got old. Paul McCartney is still needed and fed after age 64. Paul Simon knows it is not terribly strange to be 70.

"average ex-prime minister stays on as mp for 5.3 years" factoid actualy just statistical error. average ex-prime minister stays on for 0 years. Edward Richard Georg, who lived in boat & made over 10,000 sulky remarks each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Starmer is leaving the Commons relatively early for an ex-PM
Years each post-war PM remained a sitting MP after leaving 10 Downing Street
(just look it up on wikipedia)
