I know you're not allowed to say this during the current debate, but the reason the left dominates academics, art, comedy, and music is that the right has stupid, discredited ideas, they're not funny, and dull resentment does not make for good art. No grand conspiracy required.

“No one would thank us for it” is such minimising language that continues to perpetuate the harm. I think many people in Aotearoa would in fact thank National for taking an actual firm stand on racism in their Government, not least those facing increased violence because of Winston’s actions.

I get a little bit frustrated with the "we should ban AI datacentres" discourse. Not because I want them, buf because they're really not special as a category. If our planning stuff can't handle making sure industrial use handles externalities it's not fit for purpose.

NZ has - almost uniquely amongst our peers - tanked its economy and pushed 10,000s onto the dole (and offshore). We were told that this strategy would 'get interest rates down, tame inflation, and drive growth 🎉'. Yet, here we are, slumped and vying to be inflation champs. What went wrong? [🧵1/n]
