Once a Liar, Always a Liar ================== The White House shared a photo of Trump's 1964 New York Military Academy yearbook photo. They failed to mention that the medals he's wearing are NOT his. Trump borrowed a dress jacket and multiple medals from fellow cadet Michael Scadron for the photo.

I am reading "The Division Bell Mystery" by legendary Labour MP Ellen Wilkinson, and this is now my favourite line in all of world literature: "George Gleeson was a youngish man, barely fifty". Thank you, Ellen, from all the forty-somethings out here.

Tommy Robinson claims two years in “solitary confinement” explains his aggressive and anti-social behaviour. But it’s a lie. In prison, he was always able to receive visits and enjoy exercise, other human contact and perks other prisoners were denied. Read more here:

Amazing.
This essay is very much a work-in-progress, one part of much larger project on Tolkien, nationalism, and the history of religion. Feedback welcome! Especially from those who know more about histories of fascism than I do - I'm a theologian and a Tolkienist by training and by trade!
Ooo will sit down to read with a cup of tea
You've probably noticed that a lot of right-wing ghouls love The Lord of the Rings: Giorgia Meloni, Peter Thiel, J.D. Vance, many such cases. In my latest essay, I set out to put neofascist affinity for Tolkien in religious and historical context - and to show why the far right gets Tolkien wrong.
Not many people know this, but in America, the Edinburgh Fringe is called the Edinburgh Bangs.

Hebrewsky is threading about Ben Gvir's idea of having a moat full of alligators around the prisons for Palestinians (stricken down by the HCJ, on animal cruelty grounds). So far the winner is the post suggesting a moat full of Ben Gvirs and appointing an alligator as minister of police.
תגידו, זה דל״פ לרצות שבאמת יקימו את תעלת התנינים בכלא קציעות? זה קצת מגניב לא?
I mean, adjusted for inflation a plane ticket from New York to London in 1980 would cost about $4,500 dollars today. It's not that air travel has got worse. It's democratised. If you pay the 'old' price in modern money you basically get the same, if not better, experience than you did then.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
Locals used to call the cliffs at Dedwick 'the place of a thousand skulls'. Given that the clifftop cemetery was collapsing onto the beach below, it wasn't an unreasonable name. Even now, storms sometimes pull bones onto shore, feeding it new ghosts. – #MattAdams, 1981
Surely someone has studied our modern epidemic of conservative men with unwashed asses.
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
It remains illegal to discriminate against trans people or anyone you think might be trans. Inter alia, we retain the human rights to privacy.
For what it's worth, if you think Vance et al have lost weight due to this guy's diet, I've got a delightful Dutch swingbridge to sell you. They're all on GLP-1s but they want you to think it's a combination of willpower and Man Food. (I'm sure he IS shitting better than ever now. Kraut has fibre.)

A gravedigger and his family, 1962. We think of the 1960s as basically the modern day, but millions of British people still lived like this. Gravediggers were probably paid quite well, too, compared to other manual workers. This is the reality behind the "corned beef of my childhood" nostalgia slop.
I'm imagining a Telegraph reader, munching cornflakes while perusing this. "Those Goddamn lefty extremists besmirching Rod's memory. Who amongst us has not told an un-PC joke or, erm, taken a swipe at his pregnant partner...' [awkwardly gulps cereal] 'or fantasized about seducing Y10 pupils...?'
On a... different note, it’s also the 12th birthday of the Profanity Embroidery Group
So, happy 11th birthday, the Profanity Embroidery Group
Guys, The Telegraph are at home crying into their gilets that you pointed out correctly their dead friend Rod Liddle was a wife beating racist self confessed paedophile, I hope you're proud of yourselves
I was wondering why I’d got 19 clickthroughs from The Daily Telegraph…
BBC Scotland is running a propaganda campaign pushing the idea that Scotland's cities - in particular Glasgow - need English style elected mayors. This is despite the Labour policy being comprehensively rejected in the Holyrood election. The colonial propaganda started in June.👇
