Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface
Taking the money from overseas aid budgets is fundamentally wrong headed. If you want to fund public transport, do it with car fuel duty.
New UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham will use money allocated to helping poor countries deal with the worst impacts of climate change to fund a new cap on bus fares across England.

Can you imagine the uproar if someone's legal car was seized and immediately crushed because some woodentop made a mistake? And the Police don't even apologise or accept they made a mistake. It's good to see this go mainstream. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Another reason to never vote Labour again: Institutional violence against trans children.
Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2
It is mad that we have, somehow, allowed net zero - a policy common to all major parties under 5 years ago and supported by a majority of the public - to become a synoym for mad radicalism. It is doubly mad that we've allowed this to happen during the hottest summer on record.
I’m sorry, but what is ‘radical’ about the policies pursued by Miliband?
I thought I was doing a small story on confusion over the sudden disappearance of water fountains on a popular South Mississippi biking and running trail. What I found was a bigger story about homelessness, the meaning people find in the things they love, public infrastructure and civic engagement.
Water fountains disappeared from the Longleaf Trace in June as the board that governs it grew concerned about how homeless people were using its facilities. Runners and bikers who use the 44-mile trail fear the decision could have dire consequences in Mississippi's summer heat. buff.ly/pBXSvrI

Right now we have three right wing racist parties (Labour, Reform and Conservatives) fighting each other to prove that they are the cruelest and most inhumane towards vulnerable people. These are policies based on xenophobia and hate, aimed at excluding people who need asylum. 6/

It seems that several commentators have set themselves a challenge: to write a thread or article expressing disbelief as to why Starmer was so loathed without mentioning his stances on AI, Black Lives Matter, Gaza, trans rights, and then dismiss that loathing as the hysteria of out-of-touch elites.
It seems to have become commonplace to blame net zero for Britain’s high energy bills and/or weak job market… … and I guess I’ll have to explain again why there is very little evidence of this. Britain has plenty of economic problems; net zero is not high on that list (though climate change is) 🧵

With the full caveat that I have never managed a govt dept, as Wes Streeting knows very well having been health secretary, investment in active travel *pays for itself many times over* in better public health outcomes etc. Cutting investment is often a false economy, as the UK knows to its cost.

In November 2023, police discovered the decayed corpse of Tracey Turnell in Walthamstow Market. She had no phone, job, passport, friends or lovers. There wasn’t a single photo of her. It was as if, in her far too public death, she entered the public record for the first time. Who was she?

Hi, expert on far-right extremism here, a history of domestic violence and misogyny is one of the strongest predictive variables for violent extremism, especially on the right. We've been raising the alarm on this for DECADES but no one cares.
Misogyny is an increasing factor in far-right attacks, but it often goes unnoticed.
