She/her, they/them. Queer nerd working on deconstructing colonialism and white supremacy and relearning how to engage in community. But I mostly post about dnd Icon by @jquarze.bsky.social

This feels bigger than one race. This feels like a realignment. Republicans can’t win without Texas. Dems are now capable of turning Mississippi blue. Anti-trans panic fails. They can never depend on that panic button again.

Showing a billionaire that their money means nothing when it's literally all they have due to their family and friends leaving them years ago for being a colossal fuckhead has got to be so demoralising. Love to see it.

I often think about how much better the entire world would be if parents taught their sons to view girls as people. Not princesses, not goddesses, not statues to admire. Not conquests or prizes. Just, people. A full person. That simple change would fundamentally change the entire world.

Yesterday I asked my best friend, who has a phd in nuclear engineering, to teach me how compound percentages work. They made me a spreadsheet. I asked a bunch of questions. I am now able to do it. Why would I want to remove that to ask a robot to give me a (probably wrong) answer?

All else aside there is nothing I want or need genAI to do for me. I like reading. I like doing research. I like playing around in spreadsheets. I like interviewing people. I like writing. I like doing these things for myself because I take pleasure in the doing and they make me a better thinker.

It's never too late to stop using AI. It doesn't matter what you're using it for, however much you're relying on it, you can stop. There's nothing it does that can't be replaced by other, better methods. You can always learn new skills, it's never too late.

it's hard to explain to the younger generation how meaningful The Rocky Horror Picture Show was, in spite of its uhhhhh very muddled gender politics. the idea that sex/gender/gender performance could be, like, fun? not a punishment? was brand fucking new to me when I watched it at seventeen.

"It's given a lot of people permission to be themselves, to not dream it, be it, which is the motto of the movie, really. I would like to be remembered for that." Farewell to Tim Curry (1946-2026) #RIP

Tim in costume as Dr. Frank-N-Furter

this one comes up startlingly often when you ask people to list their favorite problematically hot Tim Curry character mine, obviously, is how through no fault of his own (he simply couldn’t Turn It Off™️) he is directing absolutely electric sexual chemistry at the kid in “Muppet Treasure Island”

Bye Tim Curry. You made pollution weirdly sexy and confused a lot of millennial kids with that. Sleep well.
