Gonna briefly do an AI take: it used to be possible to have interesting discussions about AI here, and it's got progressively less so. You can't just think AI is bad, or overhyped, you've also got to subscribe to a very particular worst-case scenario about *how* it's bad and how bad it is.

It's good it won't have any substantive effect, but that makes it all the more glaring that SCOTUS was engaged in vice signaling. Making a show of intervening in Trump's favor in a way that makes a big public splash even when it was totally unnecessary and irrelevant to how the case proceeds.

UPDATE: Judge in the League of Women Voters of Mass. case lifted the injunction there blocking the mail voting part of the EO — for now — but makes clear there could (and, imho, likely will) be a new injunction once the plaintiffs file their amended complaint addressing the final USPS rule.

As a Southerner, I can confirm. She represented qualities I do recognize in “my” South. She is also a prime example of why the left needs to stop writing off the American South. Everything she was, was born and nurtured in that soil.

I think that Dolly Parton was, for a lot of people, an ambassador of the "good" values people think of about the South: kindness, hospitality, can-do spirit, sharp and witty and down to earth. I think for a segment of people, too, she was theantithesis of a lot of noxious masculine country stuff.
