I'd love to credit whoever wrote this. No idea. But I'm 100% with its message. When I think of how the '80s ethos, "Greed is Good" has metastasized, it surprises and depresses me. Imagine having so many millions, hundred of millions, even billions & caring about nothing except your own vanity.

Renewable energy saves hard working people money during a cost of living crisis. Renewable energy creates more jobs. Renewable energy reduces stress on the NHS. Renewable energy saves on energy import costs. Renewable energy improves national security.

Both denial and cynicism are coping mechanisms that stem from the inability to accept that bad stuff exists alongside the good. A cynic can't accept the bad without getting crushed; mentally defeated by it. The one in denial just can't go there at all.

We already have the technology to slow (& ideally reverse) climate change. We don’t need to sit around with our fingers crossed waiting for the tech bros. We just NEED TO DO IT. Electrify everything. Build already-consented solar & wind renewable farms. Stop subsidising fossil fuel. No more coal.

It will only be too late to address climate change when we are dead and buried. "Do not be daunted by the enormity of the World's grief. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it."

Increasingly seeing "it's too late, we failed" as an argument against climate action. But: a) While we haven't done nearly enough, we've made a lot of progress relative to the "just let fossil fuels rip" world of pre-2000; b) the more&faster we reduce climate pollution, the less bad things will get;

Every heat wave is another reminder that climate resilience starts on our own streets. Plant the trees. Expand the parks. Cool our communities. Before it's too late.

Wherever you live, there is almost definitely a local environmental cause that needs support within your vicinity. Every single thing we save is worth saving. People have been fighting and dying for these causes for decades. The fight is nowhere near over so why are you tapping out?

I don't have the patience to try to go after the PS1 version's set, so I decided to play through the N64 version of Bug's Life for #RetroAchievements master number 27! For an early 3D platformer made by a third-party dev, it's surprisingly well-made... minus the draw distance.

The worst thing we can do is say it's too late to do anything about so we shouldn't try to mitigate climate change anymore. Things are going to inevitably get worse after we cross the critical 1.5°C limit, but can become even more catastrophically worse if we do nothing and allow it to keep rising.

Many see this as "fear mongering". The reality is climate change will bringmore moments like this, not less. But - as with road deaths - we can so do something about it. We can adapt care and health settings. And we can cut dangerous fossil fuels so future impact moments are not as deadly.

The Big Oil sponsored climate change deniers at The Telegraph think their 40 year disinformation campaign has been totally successful and that now nothing can now be done to prevent change in the climate so Big Oil profits are safe. These people are the lowest scum that walk the earth.

I don't love the whole "the world would be better off without us", because that's the same giving up attitude as basic climate doomerism, but there are definitely lessons to be learned from lockdown (and Chernobyl).

The reason climate doomerism is so infuriating is because it's always like five companies doing it, yet a huge number of people just go, "well as a species we are destined to destroy the earth." The idea that you could just put restrictions on corporations not entering anyone's mind here I guess.

The “it’s too late” argument is what the fossils pivoted to when they realised that people no longer buy their “climate change is a hoax” schtick.

Fun fact: The 3DO was intended as a console to be manufactured by many companies, and have hardware upgrades as technology evolved, similar to computers. We need a company to revisit that idea for a PS6 competitor. Preferably not another 'digital only future' peddler.
