man we really gotta institute a full moratorium on white people using the word "woke". honestly at this point, not even as a past tense verb. we don't get to say "I woke up at 6" anymore, we gotta find another word for that now. as a community we abused our privileges, and that's the consequence.

Doing errands today with my windows down, listening to Dolly. On my way home, 9 to 5 turned up loud. Making a left turn, & a guy waiting to cross in like... maybe his late 20s? When he hears the music, he stops & salutes my car the whole way past him like a funeral procession was passing by.

She wrote a handful of the greatest songs ever written, and the first thing so many people think of is not those towering achievements, but how good a person she was and how many people’s lives she improved

Every 10 years in adulthood you’re supposed to get a TDAP booster. Pneumonia vaccines can last up to 3 years, IIRC. Do the Covid booster every 6 months. Get a flu shot annually. Protect yourself and others!
Kids are back in school. Covid cases are up over the last few weeks. Get your boosters, please and thank you. Mask on public transit, medical settings (pharmacy included), and in stores. Being strategic is better than doing nothing.
Remember Enemy of the State? I constantly think about how the premise of that movie is that what we are experiencing. I mean it's dramatic as hell (helicopter chases IIRC?) so things don't *look* the same, but the core? Digital tracking and being able to manipulate that to implicate innocents
One movie concept that actually deserves a remake: Memento. The possibilities of that premise in the age of ever-present recordings and cameras, compounded by the possibilities created by deep fakes being used to manipulate someone wit those kinds of memory issues. That'd be fascinating as hell.
I understand the political realities regarding impeachment in general, but in all seriousness, if I were a Canadian watching the US adamently refuse to impeach Donald Trump for repeatedly threatening a treaty ally with imperial conquest, I wouldn't trust Americans ever again.

The repeated pattern over the last 6 years is that transparency and honesty from Biden was harshly punished by the political media with negative coverage, while lies and coverups from the Trump administration result in the rosiest possible assumptions being inserted into stories in their place.
why did the mainstream media cover the deliberate abandonment of obsolete and decommissioned equipment during the Afghanistan withdrawal as a scandal for the Biden administration yet they do not cover the total destruction of US bases in the gulf by Iran as a scandal for the Trump administration?

So, given all that, in what way is "biological [male/female]" a useful term? Its sole purpose is to lie about our bodies to provoke bigotry. I wish cis people (especially allies) understood what hormones actually do, but for now I'll settle for them not throwing slurs my way.
I've increasingly seen the terms "Biological [male/female]" used to talk about trans people, even by people trying to be supportive, and I wanted to get my thoughts down about that. The tl;dr is that the terms are slurs and factually wrong, and pushing back when you see them is appreciated.
