It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough
Remember, in January 2021, after the govt lost control of Covid infections for the second time, a thousand people a day were dying in the UK. Without lockdowns, we still had no means of slowing that explosion. And that’s apart from all the other ways this claim is just stupid.

I don’t care if you like its cultural output. The BBC has been a major player in the immiseration of this country, in the persecution of trans people, immigrants, muslims, travellers and disabled people, in the spread of dangerous rhetoric about climate change and vaccines. It must be dismantled.

I've had a wonderful weekend with my fiancé and dog, away at the seaside, living it up in a fancy hotel that, just a couple of years ago, I'd have laughed at being able to afford and still despair follows me, like this... A raincloud, gathering strength.

Drinking espresso martinis, discussing with my fiancé at what point we need to flee the UK. I don't want to leave my home. My family. My friends. With every passing month, it feels more and more inevitable. We are losing so hard and I can't see how it stops.
This is something I now hear regularly from almost all my trans friends. The tension between wanting to stay but not feeling safe. The tension between fleeing or fighting. The “what if where I go becomes just as bad?” It’s utterly shameful that law-abiding people feel they’re being forced out.

I can't say I'm surprised that @amnestyuk.bsky.social decided they'd rather throw trans people under the bus than fight for us. That's what cis led orgs do, every time.
They still haven't even announced a new venue for their little 'debate' with themselves, but sure, you got a massive platform. You also got brought to the attention of tens of thousands of people who would have just thought you were actually a feminist group. But you cope how you like.

That is their modus operandi when it comes to dealing with any org that shows a scintilla of support for trans people. They lost this time, and they're struggling to cope with it.

I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.
After 17 and a half years today is my last day working in the NHS. I've worked under 12 Health secretaries. Every single one made it harder for us to look after patients and pursued an agenda of privatisation and outsourcing. The NHS thrives in spite of, not because of it’s political leadership.

An underreported part of UK Transphobe Lawfare™ is that when they lose, they just... say they won. For all the regrettable sway they do have in courts/govt etc, their real power is in the press. So if they lose, they just pretend they didn't and their press friends print the lie. It's ubiquitous.

I love the people who are like "there's gonna be a robust, seedy black market for meat purchased from Zohran's Communist grocery stores." These people have never been aggressively pitched stolen steak out of the back of a Honda Civic before? Non-desperate people don't buy random sidewalk meat.
It's really hard for people to grasp that this is what Rowling does all day every day. Her brain is absolutely rotted out. Who the hell talks like this?

Frankly there is no real reason in a country where gay marriage has been fully legalised to retain the words "husband" and "wife" as formal legal terms anyway. Let marrying couples call each other whatever they want.

The NHS said it “consulted” about its transphobic changes to data. This presumably refers to the Sullivan Review. I asked every UK national trans-led organisation if they were contacted by The Sullivan Review, none reported that they had been.
