First, you tell me to get a hobby; now it's an “appropriate hobby”.
this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again
I saw one of his pieces at the Palm Springs Art Museum and it was fabulous
It's Textile Tuesday, and you know what that means: a piece by artist Faig Ahmed called "The Dragons of Karabakh" that's woven to look like an antique Central Asian carpet is melting off the wall into a puddle. More about the artist here: faigahmed.com

Consider the people you know in 2026 who are wiling to answer an unknown number, listen to a pitch, and then willingly subject themselves to several minutes of questions about politics, a topic which almost no one alive enjoys - and ask yourself how well these folks represent the rest of us.
Isn't polling a fairly mature industry? How is it so ineffective?
Always. Make. A. Scene. Fuck ICE.
Judge Wise finds that ICE coerced a 20-year-old Tongan man — admitted legally to the country three years ago — to sign a document accepting deportation, despite no criminal record or immigration proceedings against him. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
"EDM is promoted by a neoliberal order staving off its collapse" ok that's it, I'm pulling the plug. I don't know who this writer is and I'm not hate-clicking the link to find out but I'm revoking his/her/their license to talk about raving.
I have had it with this. There was a NOTAM that the GPS jamming activities were taking place in the area. Pilots must check NOTAMs prior to departure, especially commercial pilots. It is part of the damn job. If you need GPS to fly then reconsider your career choices.

In a bid to attract more students from outside of Alaska, the UA Board of Regents voted to eliminate higher tuition rates for students with out-of-state residency. www.adn.com/alaska-news/...
We are an open enrollment university with a technical college. We are a land, space, sea, and green grant university. We are America's Arctic University. In-state tuition at UAF is a steal.

Ongoing crisis in Northwest Arctic Borough. Outstanding reporting from Desiree Hagen at KOTZ, Kotzebue: "Ambler, a Northwest Arctic community of about 270 people, has been without water or sewer for more than five months." #Alaska #AlaskaSky @napaaqtuk.bsky.social www.kotz.org/kotz-local-n...
Ambler has gone 5 months without water and sewer. Fixes could take months.
According to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, about 85 percent of Ambler's main water lines are cracked, unable to hold pressure, and require replacement.

somebody has a big presentation at defcon this week about clothing that allegedly defeats person detection in flock cameras (and they're selling it) which means I suppose it's time to drag this out again. tl;dr that kinda shit is pretty well guaranteed to work in a brief and limited way if at all
Since people are talking about dazzle camo for foiling face recognition (which doesn’t work unless you pretty much cover your entire face, at which point just wear a mask?) here’s a thing I wrote abbot why training data poisoning doesn’t work; it is the same problem.

Wow. This is getting pretty sketchy. The Alaska Division of elections used outdated data to justify removing a bunch of citizens from the voter roles and given the opportunity to fix it they were just, like, nope.
The Division of Elections will not immediately restore over 3,000 voters to the state rolls, after it moved them to “inactive” status based on outdated information regarding their citizenship status. www.adn.com/politics/202...

“As I look around Petersburg, as I look around Alaska, maybe even the country, I don’t see great strides forward. In fact, I see a decline, and so I’m using this as a way to voice that," Petersburg’s Dan J. Sullivan said.
Petersburg’s Dan J. Sullivan will be on the ballot for U.S. Senate. What are his policies?
Petersburg Sullivan said he has mixed feelings about how he appears on the ballot and maintained that he never ran to fool anyone.
